$3 TRILLION & THE BUSH, KERRY
CAMPAIGNS FOR THE PRESIDENCY:
WHAT IT PORTENDS FOR US AS CHRISTIANS

INTRODUCTION

A.K. Gupta writes:

"Forget for a moment about quagmire, the growing heaps of U.S. and Iraqi dead, and the rebellious [Iraqi] population. [The U.S. elites] ... have pulled off the biggest HEIST in history. They and no one else [not the Europeans, not the Russians, not the Chinese, not the Japanese, not the U.N.] own 100 BILLION barrels of crude oil - a windfall of at least $3 TRILLION - along with the entire assets and resources of Iraq." [And that's counting only Iraq's "proven" reserves; there's probably many times more that amount under the ground - and it's what petroleum experts call "sweet crude" (i.e., crude oil that's easy to refine).]

Think about it! - $3,000,000,000,000.00!! It's beyond comprehension. Moreover, Gupta says that since March 2003, a series of executive orders by Bush and a number of ancillary regulations and orders by the former U.S. Proconsul in Iraq, Paul Bremmer, have put the U.S. IN ABSOLUTE CONTROL OF THE STATE OF IRAQ, ITS OIL INDUSTRY AND ITS MONEYS WAY, WAY INTO THE FUTURE, ALL WHILE LIFTING BARRIERS TO REPATRIATING THE PROFITS (BOOTY) back to the United States.

That's what the war in Iraq was all about. Nothing else! - and if you think otherwise, I have a life-time membership for you in the Flat Earth Society. For that amount of money - $3 TRILLION - you could build a series of Beverley Hills Mansions end to end all the way around the world. There can be no doubt about it: the U.S. is now MASTER of Babylon, literally and figuratively, and the wealth that it has secured for itself in the process is beyond imagining. THE BIGGEST "RIP-OFF" IN
THE HISTORY OF THE WORLD

It's the biggest "rip-off" in the history of the world. Moreover, all of this loot has been placed well beyond the reach of its real owners, the Iraqi people - even beyond the reach of Iyad Allawi and his new blatantly obvious puppet regime there, a government that is so patently a U.S. pawn that the CIA has not even bothered to hide the fact that Allawi is a former employee of the CIA. Not only that, but the U.S. has now secured the acquiescence of the U.N. in the HEIST, and obtained the cooperation of the European Union (E.U.) by promising to "cut them in on some of the action." $3 trillion can buy a lot of cooperation.

Finally, the U.S. "crime syndicate" of "Bush & Company" has sent one of its most trusted "Mafia lieutenants" - John Dimitri Negroponte - to make sure that the "clean-out" of Iraq goes as smoothly as possible, and the "crime scene" is secured. THE DLC

According to Gupta, the story of the GREAT IRAQI OIL HEIST begins a few months before the war in February 2003 when the U.S. Agency for International Development secretly asked six companies to bid on a reconstruction contract worth, at minimum, $900 million. The six - Bechtel, Fluor, Halliburton (i.e., Kellogg, Brown & Root), the Louis Berger Group, Parsons, and Washington Group International - were all generous supporters of the Republicans; but - unbeknownst to most Americans - they also give lavishly to the Democratic Party as well, specifically, to the DLC. NOW THAT'S IMPORTANT TO NOTE: IT CHANGES THE DYNAMIC THAT'S AT WORK IN THE 2004 ELECTION, AT LEAST INSOFAR AS IT IMPINGES ON KERRY'S FREEDOM OF ACTION (OR INCLINATION) TO PULL U.S. TROOPS OUT OF IRAQ (which he has promised he will NOT do - he could not have secured the DLC's support otherwise).

The DLC (Democratic Leadership Council) represents the "establishment wing" of the Democratic Party; it has become the means through which the elites have seized control of that party - and so much so that in recent years no one from Bill Clinton through Al Gore and now John Kerry has been able to rise to the level of a "presidential candidate" without first securing its blessing. As a result, it is not too much to say that today there's not a penny's worth of difference on economic and "internal security" matters between the two parties - after all, it was on Clinton's watch that NAFTA was passed, the negotiations for the WTO were concluded, "Work-Fare" was instituted, the draconian Anti-Terrorism and Effective Death Penalty Act of 1996 was passed, etc. This, of course, is the gist of what liberals like Ralph Nadar have been saying for years - and not just Nadar, but conservatives as well, people like Ross Perot and Pat Buchanan.

The truth is, as we have suggested time and again on this website, the United States is dominated today by a rich elite that enjoys immense power over BOTH political parties, and - indeed - over all areas of society; an elite which intends to maintain that power at ALL COSTS. They permit the parties to fight it out over social issues - abortion, gay rights, affirmative action, etc. (issues over which they don't really give a whit) - which gives "common people" the illusion that they still live in a democracy where they allegedly can choose among candidates representing "wide differences" of opinion and interests. But the elites permit no deviation from their dictates on matters of the economy (i.e., free trade, etc.) and "internal security" where there has been an appalling erosion of civil rights and individual freedoms over the past fifteen years, not only during Republican administrations, but Democratic administrations as well.

TWIDDLE DEE AND TWIDDLE DUM

The myth of the "wide differences" of opinion between Republicans and Democrats - as Pete Dolack suggests - is just that, a myth which the corporate media shamelessly propagates. But it's all so much nonsense aimed at trying to obliterate the fact that the Republican Party represents the richest men and women in the world, and that the Democratic Party has little or nothing to do any longer with "average working people" - as if John Kerry, who was born with a silver spoon in his mouth and who (together with his wife) is worth over $900 million, knows anything about the lives of such people.

All this to say that it's a fallacy of the worst kind to believe that Democrats like Kerry, Gore and Clinton are not as well connected (or almost as well connected) to corporations like Bechtel, Fluor, Halliburton, the Louis Berger Group, Parsons, and Washington Group International as is "Bush & Company," and are - as a result - every bit as invested in the rape of the Iraqi people as their Republican counterparts.

They are! - a fact that protesters at the Democratic Party Convention in Los Angeles four years ago tried to point out when they condemned the Gore family's connection to Occidental Oil, which has been deeply involved in pillaging the oil wealth of the people of Colombia. The ugly truth of the matter is, people like Gore, Clinton and Kerry are as much involved in the rape and pillage of the Third World as is the Bush gang of raiders and bandits. They just do it under the banner of being "kinder and gentler" than the Republicans. They have to be kinder and gentler because there still is extant on the left-wing of the Democratic Party activists who are committed to economic ideas that are anathema to the elites: economic equity, universal health care, more aggressive taxation of the wealthy (both individuals and corporations), adequate worker benefits, environmental protections, a reduction in military spending, etc. These ideas and the men and women who promote them in the Democratic Party act as a drag on the ability of the richy-riches to maneuver the party in quite the streamlined way they can maneuver the Republican Party; so, given the choice, the wealthy prefer the Republicans over the Democrats; but still - all things being equal - they can live with the Democrats, provided, of course, the DLC remains in charge of the party.

As for the social issues the Democrats promote - i.e., abortion, gay rights, affirmative action, etc. - who cares? They can live with or without abortion, with or without gay rights, etc. The legislation that affirms or bans these so-called "rights" doesn't reach the lofty heights they occupy.

THE INSTRUMENTALITIES OF PLUNDER

Getting back to the mechanisms of how the Americans have plundered Iraq: As the war was launched Bush issued Executive Order 13290 on March 20. It mandated the confiscation of -

"... certain property of the Government of Iraq and its agencies, instrumentalities, or controlled entities, and that ALL right, title, and interest in any property so confiscated SHOULD VEST IN THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF THE TREASURY."

Now, that's saying a lot in view of the fact that Iraq was a Baathist state (i.e., a socialist state) and it held title to Iraq's oil fields and oil infrastructure.

Then, on May 8, 2003, one week after Bush's carrier landing that marked the so-called end of "combat operations," the U.N. ambassadors from the United Kingdom and the United States sent a letter to the Security Council establishing their governments' authority over Iraq. In response, the United Nations passed Resolution 1483 on May 22, endorsing the "specific authorities, responsibilities, and obligations" of the United States and the United Kingdom as "occupying powers," specifically citing the May 8 letter. Essentially, Resolution 1483 endorsed Bush's Executive Order 13290 giving the United States "ALL right, title, and interest in the properties of the Government of Iraq" as well as "its agencies, instrumentalities and controlled entities."

THE FEEDING FRENZY BEGINS

In other words, the U.N. had cravenly capitulated to the demands of the Americans; it also signified that, ipso facto, the French (and the whole of the European Community) - who had been stunned and awed by the lightening swift attack of the Americans and their British lackeys - had caved in as well. After all, the U.S. couldn't have gotten U.N. Resolution 1483 out of the Security Council unless the French had acquiesced. THE "FEEDING FRENZY" HAD BEGUN.

The U.N. tried to cover up what they had done by specifying that "all export sales of petroleum, petroleum products, and natural gas from Iraq ... shall be deposited into the Development Fund for Iraq;" but the so-called Development Fund was controlled by the "Occupation Authority" and ultimately by the U.S. Federal Reserve Bank (Bremmer, Regulation #1), a fact that was not changed by the so-called "transfer of sovereignty" three weeks ago from the U.S. to the puppet government of Iyad Allawi.

U.S. CORPORATIONS TAKE OVER IN IRAQ

On the same day that the U.N. capitulated to the United States by passing U.N. Resolution 1483, Bush signed Executive Order 13303 which granted blanket immunity to any U.S. corporation dealing with Iraqi oil through the year 2007. Researcher Jim Vallette, who stumbled across the order in the Federal Register, says it -

"UNILATERALLY DECLARES IRAQI OIL TO BE THE UNASSAILABLE PROVINCE OF U.S. CORPORATIONS ... IN OTHER WORDS, IF EXXON-MOBIL OR CHEVRON-TEXACO TOUCH IRAQI OIL, THEY WILL BE IMMUNE FROM LEGAL PROCEEDINGS IN THE UNITED STATES."

So, according to Gupta -

"In a little more than two months the Bush administration staked claim to and received U.N. approval to every significant asset and resource Iraq has in the world, establishing SOLE POWER over how to spend Iraq's oil money, and indemnifies its corporations from liability."

OVER THE ABYSS AND INTO MADNESS

"Sole power" over $3 TRILLION! In the light of all this money, what is a few hundred American lives (or, for that matter, a few thousand, or maybe even a few million)? That's $3 million per life in the case of a million killed, and $3 billion per life in the case of a thousand killed - more than an acceptable price to pay insofar as the elites are concerned. That's the way the elites think! It actually is! - after all, it's not their kids that they are putting at risk, but the sons and daughters of Appalachia and the ghettos of South-Central L.A., and all this to say nothing about the thousands and thousands of lives lost on the Iraqi side.

The fact is, as we have already suggested, there's a FEEDING-FRENZY going on in Iraq now which has totally obliterated any concern by the elites over such matters as the lives of ordinary people - a FEEDING-FRENZY that has engulfed not only the richy-riches of the Republican Party, but those of the Democratic Party as well. It's a nauseous and obscene fever for "black gold" from which the money men of the Democratic Party cannot pull back any more than those of the Republican Party can. $3 TRILLION is enough to drive anyone CRAZY, to send them over the edge into the abyss of MADNESS. Again, it's not without reason that the Bible says:

"They that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare ... which drown men in DESTRUCTION and PERDITION." (1 Tim. 6:9)

WE MUST NOT UNDERESTIMATE THE
POWER OF MONEY TO CORRUPT PEOPLE

Christians, however, can't seem to "get" this. They simply can't get their minds to wrap around what the Bible is trying to say here, though from a Scriptural standpoint it's plain enough for anyone to see. It's NOT sex that's the root of all evil, as some suppose; nor is it homosexuality, abortion, drugs; nor is it the Illuminati, the Freemasons, the Catholic Church, Islam, the New Age, secular-humanism, or any other such thing. It's NONE of these things! The Bible says:

"The love of MONEY is the root of ALL evil ..." (1 Tim. 6:10)

It's the love of money that is behind everything that's happening in Iraq. It's the RAGE for "black gold" in the board rooms of Halliburton, Bechtel, ExxonMobil, ChevronTexaco, Fluor, etc. that's responsible for all the death and destruction as well as the hurt and misery that's occurring in Iraq. $3 TRILLION! - that's what's doing it!

A KERRY VICTORY IN NOVEMBER
WILL ONLY MAKE THINGS WORSE

And don't think for a moment that a Kerry victory in November will help things very much. The truth is, I fear what a Kerry victory will do to Christians in the United States much more than I fear what a Bush victory will do. While a Kerry victory will certainly buy us some much needed time to prepare for the Tribulation to come - and it is coming - I doubt that very many Christians in the U.S. will take advantage of the time gained. All it will do is give them more time to compromise their faith.

Moreover, a Bush defeat and a Kerry victory will incite the Christian Right into a red-hot frenzy that will make the anger that gripped Democrats after the Gore victory in 2000 was stolen from them (and it was) seem mild in comparison. The secularists, the abortionists and the homosexuals will be viewed as having stolen the "EMPIRE" - "GOD'S REDEEMER NATION" - from them. The fury will only be enhanced by the inevitable gloating and scornful revelry by the Left against the Christian Right that is bound to accompany any Kerry victory. Democratic moderates, undoubtedly, will try to stop or reduce it as much as possible, but most likely to no avail. The homosexual parades - replete with all the swaggering bravado that accompany such events (i.e., whips, leather, bare butts, gays and lesbians kissing one another) along with all the anti-Christian rhetoric and all the mockery and disdainful sneering that will be heaped on Christian conservatives by the Whoopee Goldberg / Barbara Strisand nexus (and the rest of the Hollywood crowd) will be "over the top." The abortionists will press to outlaw all anti-abortion activity; hate-speech codes directed against the Free Speech Rights of the Christian Right will proliferate; hard-core feminists will gloat at what they perceive to be the defeat of white male supremacy; the secularists will announce the death of Christianity; and the minorities will press for increased "affirmative action" against white males (which means, of course, POOR white males).

To average Christians (especially average white Christians) who will have to endure this calumny and contempt, it will seem like the end of civilization.

THERE IS A PREDICTABLE PATHOLOGY HERE

However, THE LEFT ALWAYS OVERPLAYS ITS HAND; they seem unable to bridle themselves in victory and to curb themselves as they set about to tear down the ramparts of those they see as their oppressors, and in doing so unwittingly laying the foundation for their own destruction once the BACKLASH against their excess sets in. There is a very predictable pathology at work here. For example, take what happened in the Weimar Republic as the Left took over in Germany after the end of World War I. Germany’s defeat during the First World War led to the rise of a liberal-left, anti-Christian, anti-right parliamentary coalition which seemed to hold in contempt all the values of "Old Germany." Indeed, wherever German Christians looked in the 1920s and early ’30s, they found little to comfort them: the cherished national values of hard work, self-discipline, and patriotism embodied in the conservative Lutheran and Catholic value systems of the "Old Reich" were being openly undermined and ridiculed; pacifist and feminist novels which seemed to deride manhood - and men in general - abounded; on the stage, incest, pederasty or - at the very least - marital infidelity were glorified. Illustrated magazines featured nude dancers and international gangsters, frequently shown in company with each other; movies like the Blue Angel (Marlene Dietrich) and entertainers like the dancer Josephine Baker, who could be found cavorting naked on the stage in Berlin as often as she could be seen in Paris, corrupted the younger generation by glamorizing sadism and rape. Prostitutes and their pimps were the main heroes of the day - indeed, it appeared as if only criminals, blasphemous, and homosexuals were of any interest to modern culture. It seemed as though Berlin had taken over from Paris as the world capital of lasciviousness and obscenity.

A CONSPIRACY DIRECTED AGAINST THEM

A kind of left-wing, liberal excess - the Kabarett Kultur - dominated the media, a liberalism which glorified sexual and cultural indulgence and which consigned the values of "ordinary folk" - which the liberal intelligentsia claimed were either stupid or barbaric, "das platte, all zu platte Volk" - to the rubbish heap. The literati were in command! - enemies of order, the profiteers of chaos! Like tubercular bacilli, they affected all the weak cells in the body politic. Rootless themselves, they bitterly attacked any manifestation of manly patriotism and healthy morality. They had no shame or modesty, they were the apostles of sensationalism forever in search of new trends and fashions, however worthless.

In assessing the moral and cultural decay which surrounded them, most German Christians had come to believe that this pathology of rot and decadence was by no means accidental - it was a concerted and centrally planned process - a deliberate conspiracy by socialists and left-wing, avant-guard radicals to undermine everything that was still healthy in Germany so that the country could never again recover and rise to greatness.

AND MAKE NO MISTAKE ABOUT IT, THIS IS PRECISELY HOW AMERICAN CHRISTIANS WILL VIEW A BUSH DEFEAT AND A KERRY VICTORY: THAT IT IS THE RESULT OF A CONSPIRACY OF SATANIC FORCES DIRECTED AGAINST THEM WHICH MUST BE FOUGHT WITH ALL MEANS AVAILABLE. IT IS PRECISELY THIS THAT WILL PROVE TO BE KERRY'S DOWNFALL - THAT AND THE NEVER-ENDING WAR IN IRAQ WHICH KERRY WILL INHERIT FROM BUSH. IRAQ WILL BLEED KERRY TO DEATH JUST AS SURELY AS VIETNAM BLED JOHNSON TO DEATH FORTY YEARS AGO.

THE BUSH WAR IN IRAQ
BECOMES THE KERRY WAR

The fact of the matter is, as the war continues, it will slowly be morphed into Kerry's war rather than Bush's war, a Democratic Party war rather than a Republican Party war - a war from which Kerry will be TOTALLY and COMPLETELY unable to extricate himself: The money men in the Democratic Party will simply not permit him to withdraw from Iraq - and should he try, he may very will suffer the same fate that JFK suffered four decades ago when - against the wishes of the elites - he tried to extricate the U.S. from Vietnam - AND KERRY KNOWS IT. It's no secret, no matter how people like Kerry and the elite media try to deny it, why JFK was killed. Moreover, as the Iraq war slowly begins to work its measure on Kerry, and the cultural chaos let loose by the Kerry victory begins eating away at the fabric of society, what happened so many years ago in the Weimar Republic in Germany will without question repeat itself here in the United States. Kerry is a "sitting duck" for the forces that are gathering about him, rubbing their hands gleefully, and hungrily licking their lips for the opportunity to "get in on the kill." And when these forces finally "go for the kill," it will make what happened to Clinton look mild in comparison. $3 TRILLION IS TOO MUCH TO GIVE UP

The same forces that destroyed Johnson will now conspire to destroy Kerry; there will simply be no way out of Iraq for Kerry. $3 TRILLION IS NOT SOMETHING ANYONE - DEMOCRAT OR REPUBLICAN - IS GOING TO WILLINGLY GIVE UP, and ceding Iraq over to the U.N. and the Europeans is as anathema to Kerry's moneyed supporters as it is to Bush's, notwithstanding Kerry's empty rhetoric about getting the U.N. and the Western Europeans to help out there.

The fact is, even if Kerry's "money men" were willing to cede some control of Iraq (and, ipso facto, Iraq's oil wealth) over to the U.N. and the E.C., neither one of these groups have the military capability to help out very much. There would be no quid pro quo. And even if they did have the military capability - which they don't - the populations in the E.C. would go ballistic if their sons and daughters were shipped off to Iraq, and that's something (i.e., a revolt of the "masses") the European elites have reason to fear: As Niall Green of W.S.W.S. writes,

"The European elites feel dangerously exposed following the global anti-war movement that emerged [in Europe] early in 2003 ..." [Please see our article, "Reducing Europe to the Status of Greece in the Days of Rome."]

As a result, Green says, the European elites fear that too much cooperation with the United States in Iraq -

"... could set in motion a further mass movement of [ordinary Europeans] that could THREATEN THEIR (i.e., the elite's) OWN SURVIVAL."

The European elites are struggling enough as it is with an unemployment rate that is nearly three times what it is in the United States, a trade union movement [which, unlike the trade union movement in the United States, actually possesses political power] that is threatening to derail the E.C. itself, and a growing rage against the tight monetary policies of the "Euro Sphere" (which has depressed real wages for average workers) - all of which have led to MASSIVE demonstrations against them (i.e., the elites) in recent years in Barcelona, London, Berlin, Prague, Madrid, Rome, etc. Sending soldiers to Iraq to help the Americans out simply won't fly. It could be the final straw that would break the camel's back.

KERRY'S DILEMMA

So Kerry's words about securing help from either the U.N. or the E.C. (specifically, the Germans or the French) that would BE VIABLE, that WOULD COUNT, and that would be MEANINGFUL is nothing more than empty, electioneering rhetoric. That fact - coupled with the reality that the Kerry faction of the Democratic Party is (as we have already suggested) every bit as committed to America's HEIST of Iraq's oil wealth as the Republicans are - would place Kerry in an impossible situation should he win the election.

Kerry would be caught on the horns of a dilemma - having promised Democratic activists (at least by implication) that he would find a way out of Iraq, but unable to secure any PRACTICAL or MEANINGFUL help from the E.C. and the U.N. with which the moneyed interests of the party could agree, HE WOULD FIND HIMSELF IN THE SAME IMPASSE THAT LYNDON JOHNSON FOUND HIMSELF IN FORTY YEARS AGO: unable to go forward, and unable to go back - stuck between "hither and thither," twisting helplessly in the wind.

A PHILOSOPHY THAT MITIGATES
AGAINST MILITARY ACTION

The problem with the Democrats is that they have come over the last fifty years to embrace a philosophy of thinking (for lack of a better word, "secular-humanism") that does not lend itself to decisive action; it exists in a kind of "moral fog" where there's no "right" or "wrong" to anything.

This kind of thinking is okay for students in an undergraduate philosophy class at Yale or Harvard, but it does "everyday" soldiers no good when they are called upon to "kill" or "be killed" in the service of the state. As Alexander Solzhenitsyn has written:

"To do evil [for instance, bombing the hell out of Iraq] a human being must first of all believe that what he's doing is good ... instead of bad in his own and others' eyes, so that he won't hear reproaches and curses but will receive praise and honors."

Religion provides soldiers with the moral assurance they need to go about their evil business. It's what gives the members of General Boykin's Task Force 121 the stomach to carry out their death squad activity in Iraq and it's what gave the soldiers of Argentina's military the moral conviction that they were doing God's work when every Wednesday they flew hundreds of people whom Argentina's military junta had targeted to be "disappeared" over the Atlantic to be dumped into the ocean from 15,000 feet.

Priests and pastors flew along on these flights to pray NOT for those who were being tossed out of the planes, but for those who were doing the tossing - i.e., that they would continue on in their ghastly work with the moral certainty that they were doing "God's will." THE REASON SOLDIERS FIGHT

People who are involved in this kind of work MUST be undergirded with moral CONVICTION - i.e., that God is on their side, otherwise they would go mad. And only religion can offer them this kind of conviction, especially when the killing must go on and on and on. Religion is the "coin of the realm" for any "Crusader State:" It's how the elites "pay off" their foot soldiers, i.e., with promises of an after-life and the assurance that they are doing God's will (that and the penny-ante trinkets they pin on the chests of their soldiers - which is about enough to buy a cheap cup of coffee after they have been consigned to the "rubbish heap" when the elites are through with them). They certainly don't pay their soldiers off by giving them a share of the booty, when, as Z Magazine points out -

"Sgt. Ernie Jones of the Ohio National Guard can be found making a $225.00 bonus for 'imminent danger duty' patrolling the streets of Iraq while Richard Perle (a card-carrying member of America's corporate elite who has been a strong advocate of the war in Iraq) ... can be found making hundreds of thousands of dollars on T.V. and in corporate boardrooms."

No! - it's not for a measly $225.00 a month that soldiers fight, and it's certainly not to make the rich richer. That kind of thinking wouldn't play very well in Appalachia, South-Central L.A. or even in the suburbs of middle-class America. It's for "God and country" that soldiers fight; for a cause they consider to be worth expending their lives - which is exactly what motivates the Islamic suicide bombers our soldiers are currently battling. The Muslims, however, are at least fighting for their homes, families, and way of life; our solders are battling simply to make the elites at Halliburton, ChevronTexaco, etc. a little bit richer.

WARS OF CONQUEST MUST BE
FOUGHT IN THE NAME OF GOD

Getting people to die for a cause that is neither "right" nor "wrong" but somewhere in the middle, is not something ordinary people can embrace. That was the problem in Vietnam! Vietnam was not a war that was prosecuted in the name of "righteousness" or in the name of God. It was never portrayed as a "good" verses "evil" kind of war. At best, America was fighting "socialism" and "communism" in Vietnam, intellectual ideas that were intricate and puzzling to most people. Communism and socialism are not religious ideas; they are economic ideas. They're concepts that have to be explained as "evil" to "common folks." Their "evil" and "immoral" nature does not spring immediately to mind - unless one is one of those "oddities" who frequented the rather restricted circles that Dr. Fred Schwartz and his Anti-Communist Crusade haunted back in the 1950s and early '60s.

The U.S. could have won in Vietnam. It could have won easily! - provided the war had been prosecuted without mercy and with the necessary brutality. It was possible to have bombed the North Vietnamese "back to the stone age." The cities could have been subjected to unrestricted bombing in the same way that the cities of Germany and Japan had been. The Red River dikes could have been blown up and the country-side flooded. The border between China and Vietnam could have been made radioactive and sealed. Nuclear weapons could have been used.

All these things were possible, indeed, all these things were suggested. There was very little chance that the Russians would have intervened. The belief in Russian intervention was nothing more than a fig leaf the Democrats used to hide behind in order to cover their own very real reluctance to prosecute the Vietnam war with the requisite cruelty and barbarism. As Solzhenitsyn suggests, "to do evil a human being must first of all believe that what he's doing is good ..." and "secular-humanism" simply does not lend itself to that kind of certainty.

VIETNAM WAS NOT FOUGHT IN THE NAME OF GOD

As a result, Johnson - who was not a man imbued with the certainty of religion - could never bring himself to adequately prosecute the war; and not only that, the RFK / McGovern wing of the Democratic Party would have never permitted it. That's the problem with the Democrats. They are saddled with ideas and constituencies that rebel at the thought of that kind of blood-letting - and, unfortunately, that's the kind of blood-letting it takes to win. That's the kind of warfare upon which great empires are built. It wasn't without reason that the German SS had inscribed on their built buckles the motto "God mit uns" ("God is on our side") as they went about their grisly business in the death camps at Sobibor, Treblinka, Auschwitz, Belsen-Belsen, Dacau, etc.

And be sure about it - the same ideas that haunted Johnson haunt Kerry today. One is making a big mistake in not taking seriously what Kerry did after his stint in Vietnam; when he said that he was "SHAMED" by the way America was prosecuting the war there. That was no fluke; one cannot chalk that up simply to "political expediency." The fact is, I have very little doubt that Kerry really meant what he said, nor do I have any doubt as to the veracity of his convictions when he threw his medals (or ribbons) into the tidal basin in Washington D.C. He meant it! Moreover, the chances are, HE STILL DOES! - and if that's the case, he's not the kind of leader that can bring the Iraqi war to a successful conclusion, AND HOLD INTACT THE WAR BOOTY THAT HAS DERIVED TO THE AMERICAN ELITES AS A RESULT OF THAT WAR.

What's likely to happen is that the war in Iraq will be prosecuted by Kerry in the same way that Johnson prosecuted the war in Vietnam - by means of a series of half-hearted measures that will end up angering BOTH his constituencies: his voters on the left and his "Fat Cat" supporters on the right, just as Johnson did.

The end result will be that the U.S. will find itself "bogged down" in Iraq facing an emboldened Islamic insurgency - AND IT WILL BE THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY'S WAR THEN - KERRY'S WAR - not the Republican Party's and Bush's war anymore. People have a short memory with regard to these kinds of things. It was, after all, President Eisenhower who got the United States involved in Vietnam, but it was Johnson who took the "hit" for the war, and - ironically - it was to Nixon (who had been Eisenhower's vice president) that the people turned to get us out of the war. We are setting ourselves up for a repeat of history here.

Moreover, IT WILL BE AN EXTREME REACTION. The blame that gathered itself to the Democratic Party for America's "FAILURE" in Vietnam set the country up for a succession of Republican Party presidents who stripped the country of all the legislation aimed at guarding the country against the excesses of unfettered capitalism that had brought on the "Great Depression" in the 1930s. And Americans are paying an awful price for that today in falling income, the growing inequities between the rich and the poor, the gutting of social security, the end of Glass-Segall, the destruction of the unions, etc.

OF COURSE, BUSH MAY
NOT LOSE THE ELECTION

Now, who's to say whether all this will occur or not? It could very will be that Bush won't lose the election. The people who surround Bush are capable of almost anything - even another 9/11 event - to see that that doesn't happen. And heaven only knows what kind of tricks they have in store for the upcoming election.

If, however, Bush does win the election, it will probably be by the thinnest of margins, and by a whole lot of trickery - and if that's the case, he will have to move rapidly to impose a dictatorship on the country because - the protestations of the Christian Right notwithstanding - he certainly won't have a "mandate from the people."

Moreover, in order to hold on to Iraq and keep the American New World Order System intact, he will have to re-impose the draft, which will bring the Lefties out into the street by the millions, and not only the Lefties, but millions and millions of ordinary people who don't want to see their sons and daughters sent off to Iraq. It would seem in some ways best for the elites to let Bush lose the election - and that may very well explain the vast amount of money that has suddenly and unexpectedly found its way into the Kerry campaign. Better to re-institute the draft under a Democratic administration than a Republican one; better to let them take the blame for that; better also to let the Democrats twist in the wind for four years and let them get thoroughly discredited in the process.

But it's imperative in all of this that you "keep your eye on the ball," and MONEY is the ball in this case. If you really want to know what's happening, you must understand what's driving this dynamic. It's MONEY that's doing it - $3 TRILLION. That's what's doing it. It's not the so-called Illuminati, it's not the Catholic Church, it's not the Freemasons, it's not any of these things! It's MONEY! The Bible wasn't kidding around when it said:

"For the love of MONEY is the root of ALL evil ..." (1 Tim. 6:10)

DON'T MAKE LIGHT OF THIS

Listen to me , dear saints of God: don't make light of this. All too often Christians do so because they lust for money themselves - maybe not on the level of the elites, but that's simply because they've never had the opportunity to do it on that level. Sadly, and more often than we care to admit, the "lack of sin" in our lives is simply the "lack of opportunity."

Besides, it's difficult to admit that the same lust that has taken hold of the elites in the board rooms of America's multinational corporations (and that is now driving the fiendish and infernal dynamic in Iraq) is resident in our lives as well. And this lust is as capable of driving us into madness, and from there into hell and perdition (1 Tim. 6:9), as it is of warping and mutating the lives of the elites. Indeed, it is this fact that gives the elites so much power over us, and leads to their ability to CO-OPT our lives, turning us into their toadies and slavish devotees, which is precisely what has happened to people like Lula da Silva in Brazil and Nelson Mandela in South Africa, as well as people like Vernon Jordan and Jerry Rubin in this country.

COME OUT OF HER

It's the LUST for money - the love of it, the desire for it, the devotion to it - that makes Babylon "roll and go." THE FORCES OF HELL ["perdition" (1 Tim. 6:9)] ARE AT WORK HERE. It is precisely this passion that has corrupted the United States BEYOND REMEDY, and that has perverted the church in America; and so great is its hold on people in the U.S. (both Christian and non-Christian alike) that God's ONLY answer to it is His command for us to "COME OUT" lest we are polluted ourselves (Rev. 18:4). Sadly, however, very few Christians seem willing to obey God's warning on this matter, a warning that rings about as hollow in their ears as the warning that Noah gave to the people of his generation concerning the Flood, fulfilling the Scripture which says,

"And as it was in the days of Noah, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man.

"They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark, and the flood came, and DESTROYED THEM ALL. (Luke 17:26-27)

WE MUST FLEE THIS LUST

$3 TRILLION! The lust for it has driven the nation over the brink and into madness, and all those who are in any way connected to the United States (Christian or non-Christian alike) will go tumbling into this abyss along with the nation as a whole.

You MUST get away before you tumble into the abyss yourself. The lust for money - which has driven the country into a vicious frenzy (a frenzy that is manifesting itself now so tragically in Iraq) will destroy you more thoroughly and more surely than drugs, sex, homosexuality or any other such thing could ever do, AND IT WILL PREVENT YOUR ESCAPE FROM BABYLON once this lust has taken hold on your life. The Bible says,

"A little leaven leaveneth the whole lump." (Gal. 5:9)

You may not be corrupted yet, but you will be corrupted if you remain; all it takes is a little leaven, and eventually the WHOLE lump is leavened.

I tell you the truth, with tears in my eyes for all of you, the Bible isn't playing around with us when it says,

"For the love of MONEY is the root of ALL evil ..." (1 Tim. 6:10)

That's ALL evil; not some evil, but ALL evil.

And the Bible goes on to tell us in the very next verse -

"But thou, O man of God, FLEE these things (i.e., money) ..." (1 Tim. 6:11)

Of course, most Christians will say that what they're doing in acquiring wealth for themselves is nothing more than taking care of the "responsibilities of life." But, sadly, this kind of thinking is more often than not - at least in America - nothing more than an excuse for involving oneself in the "the things of this world."

SEEK FIRST THE KINGDOM OF GOD

We need a RADICAL change in our thinking insofar as the "things" and the "necessities" of this life are concerned, and the degree to which we should involve ourselves in their acquisition. Jesus says:

"Seek NOT what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink, neither be ye of doubtful mind.

"For all these things do the nations of the world seek after: and your Father knoweth that ye have need of these things." (Luke 12:29-30)

Wow! - think about that! "Eating" and "drinking" are pretty basic; but we're told not to seek after these things. And if that was true 2,000 years ago, that's many times more true today, especially insofar as American Christians are concerned, and most especially in view of the fact that we live in a society that measures success by the amount of money we have managed to acquire. How absolutely CONTRARY all this is to what Jesus told His disciples:

"Consider the lilies how they grow: they toil not, they spin not; and yet I say unto you, that Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.

"If then God so clothe the grass, which is today in the field, and tomorrow is cast into the oven; how much more will he clothe you, O ye of little faith?

"BUT RATHER SEEK YE [FIRST] THE KINGDOM OF GOD ..." (Luke 12:27-28, 31)

What the Bible is saying here is this: If the responsibilities (so-called) of your daily life - i.e., the demands of your wife (or your husband), your children, the worry about what you shall eat, what you shall put on, and the grind of your job, the constant concern over the mortgage payment on your home, the monthly payments on your car and visa card, etc. - consume you, you CANNOT be a disciple of Christ. YOU DON'T HAVE THE TIME TO BE ONE!! - and don't think that you can be a disciple of Christ by simply thinking about it and wishing it to be so. That's why Jesus advised those who find themselves consumed by the "necessities" of daily life to -

"Sell WHATSOEVER thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me." (Mark 10:21)

And this is why the Apostle Paul tells us that -

"NO MAN THAT WARRETH ENTANGLETH HIMSELF WITH THE AFFAIRS OF THIS LIFE; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier." (2 Tim. 2:4)

A REVOLUTIONARY CHANGE IN OUR THINKING

Of course, there are those who would say that this is a call to irresponsibility. BUT IF YOU THINK SO, YOUR ARGUMENT IS WITH GOD, NOT WITH US. As Christians, we HAVE TO believe that these words were not put into the Bible as an empty flourish and a meaningless gesture meant to be winked at and not taken seriously. I know that as Americans it's hard not to do so: after all, what Jesus is saying here CONTRADICTS just about EVERYTHING we've ever been taught about "financial responsibility" - and so much so that if we are to take Jesus seriously on these matters we must have a REVOLUTIONARY change in our thinking.

I tell you the truth here - there are many who desire to flee Babylon (i.e., who long to escape their onerous servitude to it) whose only chance to do so is to do EXACTLY what Jesus told His disciples to do in Mark 10:21: to sell whatever they have and get out. (Mark 10:21) I cannot begin to tell you the number of people I talk to on the phone almost daily who are UTTERLY trapped by Babylon and COMPLETELY subjugated to the daily grind of this world. They will NEVER escape their bondage to Babylon unless they obey Christ on this point and "make a run for it." They're in so deep, that's their only way out!

Indeed, I just got off the phone with someone whose life consists of NOTHING more than going to work at 7:00 in the morning, coming back at 8:00 in the evening, falling exhausted into bed, and repeating the process the next day. And still, he and his wife (who works also) are falling behind on their bills. Now they're thinking about refinancing their home - which they think will gain them some breathing space - but in the end, it will only put them in a deeper hole. There's no time in their life for the things of God. Indeed, there's no time for God! [Again, please see our article, "Making Men Cogs in a Machine."]

AND SOME ARE IN EVEN DEEPER THAN THAT

And some are in even deeper than that - so deep, in fact, that even if they sold all they had, they still couldn't escape their "obligations" to Babylon. But don't think even for a minute that if that's your case, you are not still under the heavenly edict to "Come out of her!" YOU ARE!

You MUST NOT think that God's command will be changed or modified to accommodate your situation. It won't - and you are really kidding yourself if you think that it will. If you stay, you will be corrupted - that's what Revelation 18:4 says - and all your excuses on THAT DAY will count for nothing. The only thing you can do if this is your situation is to decide between your obligations to Babylon and your obligations to God; and if that's the case, you MUST choose God. Again, the Bible says:

"... SEEK YE [FIRST] THE KINGDOM OF GOD ..." (Luke 12:31)

Again, I know that this is all very heavy stuff, and that it runs absolutely counter to the things that most of you have been taught; but it's never been truer than it is now - at the "end of the age" - especially when the Bible says that,

"... your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour ..." (1 Pet. 5:8)

MOST AMERICAN CHRISTIANS ARE NOT
ORIENTED TOWARDS THIS KIND OF HARDNESS

Unfortunately, American Christians are simply not oriented to the kind of HARSHNESS it takes to extricate themselves from the predicament they find themselves in today, not even when that HARSHNESS emanates out of Christ's own mouth. Their kind of Christianity is a wishy-washy and flaccid (impotent) kind of religiosity where verses like 2 Tim. 2:3, "... therefore endure HARDNESS, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ" simply have no place. It's a coffee house kind of religion that puts great store on "gentleness" and "forgiveness," while ignoring such clear injunctions as Christ's advice to His disciples in Mark 9:43:

"... if thy hand offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into (eternal) life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched ..." (Mark 9:43)

It's as if today's Ben & Jerry form of Christianity had excised such verses entirely from the Scripture. Dwelling as it does in the temperate zone - neither cold nor hot [and ignoring the Bible's somber warning against this kind of religion, i.e., "I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth" (Rev. 3:15-16)] - today's Christianity is not compatible with absolutes of any kind. As David Brooks sarcastically puts it in his book, Bobos In Paradise, instead of a "Final Judgment" the REI Christians of today believe in a "Final Discussion," much like a kindly old teacher - a "Mr. Chips" sort of person - would have with one of his pupils - an exam where the test isn't actually graded, there are no "right" and "wrong" answers, and no one fails.

There's no room in this kind of Christianity for the Jesus of the Bible who said,

"Suppose ye that I am come to give peace on earth? I tell you, NAY, BUT RATHER DIVISION:

"For from henceforth there shall be five in one house DIVIDED, three against two, and two against three.

"The father shall be DIVIDED against the son, and the son against the father; the mother against the daughter, and the daughter against the mother; the mother in law against her daughter in law, and the daughter in law against her mother in law." (Luke 12:51-53)

And there is no place in this type of religion for Christ's injunction against the riches of this life:

"Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:

"But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:

"FOR WHERE YOUR TREASURE IS, THERE WILL YOUR HEART BE ALSO." (Matt. 6:19-21)

WHERE YOUR TREASURE IS,
THERE WILL YOUR HEART BE ALSO

"For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also!" If our treasure (and the security that this treasure affords us) is here on earth - our nice home, our nice car, our good career, our good education, our bank account, etc. (or in the hope for these things) - then that's where our heart will be: HERE ON EARTH (in Babylon). But if our treasure is in heaven, then we will understand what Christ meant when He said,

"Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom." (Luke 12:32)

And we will understand what the Bible means when it says:

"Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him." (1 Cor. 2:9)

We will become like him about whom Christ said:

"Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in a field; the which when a man hath found, he hideth, and for joy thereof goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field.

"Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a merchant man, seeking goodly pearls:

"Who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and SOLD ALL THAT HE HAD, and bought it." (Matt. 13:44-46)

CHRISTIANS WHO DON'T KNOW CHRIST

Brothers and sisters, I must tell you that when I see Christians hesitate to give up the "good things of this life" (or, if they don't have these things, then their hope of acquiring these things) in the service of Christ - Christians who are consumed with the "responsibilities of this world" (so-called) - I can only conclude that such people have never really met Christ and know nothing of the things of God. No matter how saintly they might appear, no matter how much peace they seem to exude in their public life, and no matter how much their affairs seem to be in order - they know nothing of God, and their lives are a sham; a pretense, and nothing more.

Someone who has really seen Christ will give everything up for Him, and they will do it gladly and with joy! These are the kind of people who can say with the prophet Habakkuk:

"Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls:

"YET I WILL REJOICE IN THE LORD, I WILL JOY IN THE GOD OF MY SALVATION." (Hab. 3:17-18)

To such a person, the words of Christ when He said, "Sell all that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me ..." makes perfect sense.

But if these verses make no sense at all to us; if they seem merely be a call to irresponsibility; if we have consigned such thinking to the province of airy-headed dreamers, then OUR HOME IS BABYLON - and we will NEVER escape from it. NEVER!

The words of Christ to "COME OUT OF HER, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues" (Revelation 18:4) strikes TERROR in our heart, and we will find ourselves moving heaven and earth to mitigate and assuage their plain meaning. Babylon is our home; it's where our friends are, where we hope to build a career for ourselves (become a doctor, maybe). To leave Babylon sickens us; it nauseates us; it disgusts us - and we will do everything we can to discredit those who suggest such a course of action.

THE THIRST FOR RICHES GOVERNS YOUR LIFE

But if that's the case - if Babylon is OUR home - then MONEY and the LUST for it is what governs our lives, no matter how we try to hide that fact, no matter how we sublimate our lust, no matter how "holy" we appear, how "soft spoken" we are, our pathetic search for "filthy lucre" is what really governs our lives.

We should understand, however, that this lust is someday going to consign us to hell. This is what the Bible says, and we are being very, very STUPID in not recognizing this fact - and just because we are chasing after pennies rather than the millions and millions of dollars that the elites are chasing, does not mean that this lust does not consume us every bit as much as it does the elites. I have been young, and now I am old, but I have seen more so-called Christians carried away by the love of money than I have ever seen carried away by drugs and sex!

And, oh, what a foolish and short-sighted lust it is too. The Bible says:

"For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out." (1 Tim. 6:7)

WE HAVE PARTNERED WITH THE ELITES

By refusing to leave Babylon, whether we want to admit it or not, we have PARTNERED with the elites, all our protests to the contrary notwithstanding. We have made "common cause" with those who are currently raping and pillaging the people of Iraq (and, indeed, the entire world). We are "in" on the GREAT IRAQI OIL HEIST, and although we may wish to mitigate some of its worst excesses, still - if we can profit from it in some small manner - we are prepared at least to look the other way and keep our mouths shut at work, at church, and when we are with our friends.

Come on now! - is it that hard to see how the poor and dispossessed of the world must see things when they see us benefiting - no matter how infinitesimally - from their misery?" When they see our faces in the crowd standing behind the men who are pointing guns at them, no matter if we are holding Bibles in our hands and praying fervently for them?

This may surprise you, dear Christian, but the poor and downtrodden of the earth who are suffering at the hands of the American New World Order System are not as stupid as we might think, and our refusal to cut off our relationship with the very system that is oppressing them gives the lie to what we say we are all about. It reveals us as FRAUDS; FAKES, it exposes our Christianity for the empty SHAM it really is, and it helps to make Christianity appear to the poor of the world as NOTHING more than a tool of the elites, a facade behind which they can plunder the world.

WE ARE PLAYING WITH FIRE

GOD'S GREAT NAME IS AT STAKE HERE! - and He will not allow His Name to be maligned in this fashion. We are playing with very, very dangerous fire in not recognizing God's burning, red-hot ANGER insofar as all this is concerned, Someone about Whom the Bible says -

"... the earth shook and trembled; the foundations also of the hills moved and were shaken, BECAUSE HE WAS WROTH.

"There went up a smoke out of his nostrils, and fire out of his mouth ... coals were kindled by it,

"He bowed the heavens ... and CAME DOWN: and darkness was under his feet.

"And he rode upon a cherub, and did fly: yea, he did fly upon the wings of the wind.

"He made darkness his secret place; his pavilion round about him were dark waters and thick clouds of the skies." (Ps. 18:7-11)

We are being very foolish to be cavalier and casual around Someone like this! - and if this Someone says "come out," we had better "come out!" We MUST get away from the United States as quickly as we can. We must distance ourselves from it, not only spiritually, but PHYSICALLY as well.

We must bear in mind here, that Babylon the Great is far more than merely a religious system; it is a political and military system as well. There is no separating civil Babylon from religious Babylon. The two are entwined together. They have been fused into one system. Don't think - even for a minute - that by not attending an organized church in the United States you have escaped Babylon. You haven't!

People call me mean-spirited! I know that. I regret it very, very much because I sincerely grieve for all those who see prophecy as nothing more than a computer game - people who take my work and say, "What a wonderful body of literature; I think it is inspired. But Steve himself is too much. If he would only be a little more understanding of where the rest of us are coming from, his message would be okay. He would get a lot more support if he did so." But that's not the purpose of Antipas Ministries; if it was, I would no doubt water the message down and make it more palatable, as some of my past colleagues suggest that I should do. But God help me if I do. The Bible says:

"Son of man, speak to the children of thy people, and say unto them, When I bring the sword upon a land, if the people of the land take a man of their coasts, and set him for their watchman:

"If when he seeth the sword come upon the land, he blow the trumpet, and warn the people;

"Then whosoever heareth the sound of the trumpet, and taketh not warning; if the sword come, and take him away, his blood shall be upon his own head.

"He heard the sound of the trumpet, and took not warning; his blood shall be upon him. But he that taketh warning shall deliver his soul.

"But if the watchman see the sword come, and blow not the trumpet, and the people be not warned; if the sword come, and take any person from among them, he is taken away in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at the watchman’s hand." (Ezek. 32:2-6)
