LIES AND DECEIT IN THE
SERVICE OF THE AMERICAN
NEW WORLD ORDER SYSTEM

INTRODUCTION

American troops and material continue to pour into the Middle East despite the frantic, almost hysterical efforts of France, Germany, Russia and China to prevent the by-now almost certain U.S. attack against Iraq. It seems that nothing that these nations can do or threaten to do has been able to dissuade Bush from his planned war in the Middle East - not their vetoes in the United Nations' Security Council, not world opinion (which is running overwhelmingly against the attack), not even the disruption of NATO - not anything.

The fact is, militarily, all these nations - even when taken together - are nothing more than pygmies to the American giant - a giant which like Caesar "bestrides this narrow world like a colossus." These nations - especially the nations of the EC - are going to learn a very hard lesson in REALPOLITIK - that in this world nothing counts more than bullets from the barrel of a gun - and America has the "biggest, baddest" guns in the world.

This is a particularly hard lesson to learn, especially for France and Germany - nations which thought that they could have militaries on the cheap, and who have been running on the naive assumption that equality with the United States could be measured simply in economic terms; that the world had advanced beyond the place where military power mattered, and that by cobbling together a patchwork of small and medium-sized nations in Europe that could approximate a creaky equality with the United States economically, they could elicit respect from America.

But there are no "equals" in the American New World Order System, and whether they realize it or not, they are a part of that system - not as equals, but in the end (after all the fancy costuming has been stripped from them) only as humble supplicants little better than Guatemala and Argentina. The next few years will tell the story as they struggle to free themselves from the web in which they have been caught - like moths hopelessly beating their wings against the strands of web that hold them tight. What they will learn is that there are no meaningful economic blocs anymore (e.g., the EC, NAFTA, ASIAN, etc.) - only one seamless web. Globalization has proceeded too far now; there is no escaping it. There is only ONE system that matters any longer: The American New World Order System.

Most of the economic elites in Europe (as opposed to some of the political elites and the "masses") - they know (e.g., the CEOs of Siemens, Royal Dutch Shell, Diamler, Deutsche Bank, Nestle, Bayer, etc.). They know which "side of the toast their butter is on," and they are certainly not enamored by the "socialist tinge" of all the demonstrations against America in Europe (and make no mistake about it, the demonstrations in Europe are not simply anti-war demonstrations, but anti-American demonstrations). After all, nothing sets the economic elites - especially the elites in Europe - more on edge than "demonstrators (whom the economic elites in Europe ultimately see as socialists - i.e., people who in the end want to strip them of their property) in the streets." They remember all too well what happened in Europe in 1917, and they know that their destiny ultimately lies with America.

Moreover, the economic elites in Europe are more than aware that their investments in the Third World (which are ENORMOUS, and every bit as ONEROUS on the indigenous peoples of the Third World as are the investments of the American elites) are ultimately dependent on the power of the American military. The European elites don't put any trust in the barren power of their own militaries. They know the ONE military machine in all the world that counts - a fact that was driven home to them a few years ago when France attempted to project power into central Africa, and had to be carried into the area aboard American transport planes. Pretty lame!

The European economic elites will bide their time for now until the demonstrations have run their course; but when the time is right, they will strike a deal with America - their bargain with the devil.

The Left, of course, knows what's occurring; the people (as opposed to the elites) in Europe know what's happening - i.e., that their own economic elites are more than willing to "sell them out" to the Americans. Indeed, that's what accounts for the divide between the British government and the British people, the Italian government and the Italian people, the Dutch government and the Dutch people, the Spanish government and the Spanish people, ad nauseum. The only "people" in all the world who don't know what's occurring are the American people, and most especially, American Christians, Bush's core political constituency: THEY TRULY ARE DECEIVED.

DECEPTION

According to the Bible, DECEPTION is the art of PRESENTING A LIE AS THE TRUTH, which is exactly what George Bush and his cohorts have been doing to American Christians for some time now. But should we be surprised? - after all, in various places and in diverse manners the Scriptures warn us about the danger that DECEPTION will pose to the "people of God" at the "end of the age," and so much so that the "very elect" shall be "DECEIVED" (Mat. 24:24).

Indeed, DECEPTION is everywhere today; it is ubiquitous. It's in the "wars and rumors of wars" that permeate our society; it's in the pronouncements of our government as they relate to the upcoming War in Iraq and the new National Security State that is being constructed right now before our very eyes; it's in the declarations of our business leaders regarding the health of our economy and the "bottom lines" of their financial statements, ad nauseum, ad infinitum - but the greatest lie, at least as this deception pertains to us as Christians, IS THE THOUGHT THAT THE AMERICAN NEW WORLD ORDER SYSTEM TO WHICH THE AMERICAN EVANGELICAL CHURCH HAS SO TRAGICALLY ATTACHED ITSELF HAS ANYTHING TO DO WITH GOD. Indeed, this is the lie around which all the other lies of our time revolve; the centerpiece from which they all hang.

The UTTER blindness of Christians (especially American Christians) as to the real nature of the American New World Order System is truly breathtaking in its enormity. It seems today that almost everyone EXCEPT Christians can grasp what this evil, predatory system - a system that "traffics in the bodies and souls of men" (Rev. 18:13) - is all about, proving once again that -

"... the children of this world are in their generation wiser than the children of light." (Luke 16:8)

IT'S NO SECRET INSOFAR AS MOST
PEOPLE IN THE WORLD ARE CONCERNED

It is certainly no secret what the American New World Order System is all about in the ranks of the anti-globalist demonstrators who have gathered in Athens, Seattle, Quebec, Washington DC, Prague, New York, London, Rome, Sydney, Buenos Aires, Genoa, etc. over the last few years to demonstrate against its pernicious and corrupt instrumentalities: the WTO, the World Bank, and the IMF. They know what this depraved and oppressive System is all about - and they are very cognizant of the fact that the church has teamed up with the moneyed elites who ultimately control it. Take, for example, what Saul Landau says:

"'What's this Bush Administration really all about'? A frustrated student asked me. Good question! I suggested that he look into the clever manipulators - led by Karl Rove (a so-called 'born-again' Christian) - who have woven together a novel coalition of voracious (corporate) looters ... (with the Christian Right). By employing styles and methods of bullying, secrecy and downright prevarication, they have developed a unique political MATING process IN WHICH THE NATIONAL SECURITY MAVENS (meaning, in this case, the rich) BOND WITH RELIGIOUS ZEALOTS (meaning the evangelical Christians) ..."

What kind of testimony is that? - for Christians [who claim to be followers of the poor Carpenter of Nazareth - a man who said of Himself, "... foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head ..." (Matt. 8:20)] to be linked with the "corporate looters" of today's world economy - i.e., the Herods of "this present evil world." (Gal. 1:4) But that's exactly what has happened - something that many of us who are associated with Antipas witnessed first-hand when we stood on the steps of one of Philadelphia's poshest hotels during the Republican National Convention two and a half years ago and watched the now-disgraced CEOs of Enron and WorldCom (both of whom claim to be "born-again" Christians) together with the "FAT CAT" CEOs of General Electric, Ford Motor Company, GM, etc. arrive for dinner in their stretch limousines with the leaders of the Christian Right slavishly in tow.

It was a squalid and shameful picture - to see the church's leaders reduced to nothing more than "water carriers" for the rich; "flunkies" to the elites; cringing sycophants paid to lick the boots of the plutocrats who control the Republican Party, people about whom the Bible says:

"It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a RICH man to enter into the kingdom of God." (Mark 10:25)

And make no mistake about it! - the people with whom the leaders of today's church are cavorting around with are not ordinary people in any sense of that word; they are the ULTRA-RICH of today's corrupt, scandal-riddled corporate world who, while constituting only about four percent of the American population, have in the past few decades managed to capture for themselves $452 billion in wages and salaries on an annual basis - the same as the annual wages and salaries of the bottom fifty-one percent of the American population. One would think - seeing the D. James Kennedys, the Pat Robertsons, the Tim LaHayes, the James Robisons, and the Jerry Falwells of the church frolicking around with the rich - that Paul the Apostle was only kidding when he said,

"For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble (i.e., RICH), are called:

"But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;

"And base (i.e., POOR) things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are:

"That no flesh should glory in his presence." (1 Cor. 1:26-29)

DO NOT THE RICH OPPRESS YOU?

Concerning the rich - again, the same people with whom the leaders of today's apostate church are so grovelingly associating themselves - the Apostle James writes,

"... Do not rich men oppress you? ...

"Do not they blaspheme that worthy name by the which ye are called?" (James 2:6-7)

Yes! - a thousand times, YES! Again I say, it's not without reason that Jesus told His disciples, "It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God." (Mark 10:25) And the reason is this: IN THIS WORLD, ONE DOES NOT ACQUIRE WEALTH WITHOUT AT THE SAME TIME BECOMING JADED AND ENERVATED TO THE THINGS OF GOD. Jesus said:

"No servant can serve two masters: for either he will HATE the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye CANNOT serve God and mammon." (Luke 16:13)

And He continued by somberly warning His disciples about heaping up riches in this life:

"Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:

"But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:

"For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also." (Matt. 6:19-21)

IF YOU CHOOSE TO SERVE
MONEY YOU WILL HATE GOD

What is the Bible saying here? - plainly it's saying that if you choose to serve money, you will end up HATING and DESPISING God. That's clearly what the Bible is saying!

Ask yourselves, then, WHAT DOES THAT SAY ABOUT THE ULTRA-RICH WITH WHOM THE LEADERS OF TODAY'S CHURCH HAVE "MADE COMMON CAUSE?" IT SAYS THAT THE CHURCH HAS TEAMED UP WITH PEOPLE WHO HATE GOD!

Come on now! - isn't that the NECESSARY "end-logic" of what the Bible is saying here? Of course it is! - and for you to believe anything else is to prove yourself a person who doesn't really take the Holy Scriptures very seriously - people "Who change the truth of God into a lie ..." (Rom. 1:25)

The naked fact is, according to the Bible, the rich HATE God (despite all of their pretending to the contrary) - and for that reason, God has given them -

"... over to a REPROBATE mind ...

"Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, DECEIT, malignity; whisperers,

"Backbiters, HATERS OF GOD, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,

"Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful ..." (Rom. 1:28-31)

REPROBATES

The ultra-rich - all of them - are [among other things - indeed, almost twenty-five "other things" (see verses above)] full of DECEIT and TREACHERY - and not only that, but MURDER as well. That's what Romans 1:28-31 is saying - people whom God has given up as REPROBATES; people whom the late Professor C. Wright Mills of Columbia University says constitute a class of people that is very markedly -

"... NOT composed of ... men whose conduct and character constitute models for American imitation and aspiration ... (This) is no set of men with whom members of the mass public (or the church) should RIGHTFULLY and gladly identify ..."

This, of course, runs counter to what most American Christians have been led to believe - especially the devotees of Christian leaders like Bennie Hinn, Richard Roberts, Charles Capps, Kenneth Hagin, Kenneth Copeland, Creflo Dollar and the other purveyors of the "Green Gospel:" That a life of virtue will result in financial success. The fact is, and CONTRARY to the renegade teachings of these men, where money is to be found, Satan is close by (I Tim. 6:10) - and it isn't as if any of this is a deep, dark secret, i.e., that money corrupts; that it perverts those who become involved with it; that the so-called moneyed elite is a venal and squalid group of individuals. Even the world recognizes this fact: it's in our literature, it's in our movies, it's in our culture. What, then, does all this say about the alliance that Christians have struck with the corporate elites of the Economic Right? What it says is, THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH IT!! It doesn't pass the smell test.

THE RICH ARE CAPABLE OF ANYTHING

These people - i.e., the RICH - are the kind of people who think NOTHING of murdering a president (JFK) because he dared to oppose their homicidal policies in Cuba and Vietnam; of slaughtering Martin Luther King on his way to a union rally in Memphis because King was metamorphosing his civil rights movement into a movement emphasizing not just civil rights, but economic rights as well; of butchering Patrice Lumumba, Jacobo Arbenz and Salvador Allende because these men challenged their (i.e., the elites') oppressive corporate economic policies in the Congo, Guatemala, and Chile and objected to their working men, women and little children as virtual slaves for sixteen hours a day for pennies an hour; of running Che Gueverra to the ground in Bolivia like a dog and brutally murdering him because he was encouraging the people of South America to revolt against America's corporate elites; and, finally, of running death squads and torturing their opponents in order to keep their "client-state" populations under control.

These are the kind of people - again, the rich - who think NOTHING of impoverishing thousands of ordinary people so that they can pad their bank accounts by a few more million - as if there's much difference between $252 million and $259 million. And much more somberly and to the point (and whether you are prepared to believe it or not), these are the kind of men and women who would think NOTHING of RAMMING (or looking the other way while someone else rammed) TWO HUGE JUMBO JETS INTO THE TWIN TOWERS OF THE WORLD TRADE CENTER AND ANOTHER JET INTO THE PENTAGON in order to perpetrate a deception on the American people that serves their own self-centered, pecuniary ends, men and women who - as Robert Redford said to Cliff Robertson in the movie Three Days of the Condor - "THINK THAT NOT GETTING CAUGHT IN A LIE IS THE SAME THING AS TELLING THE TRUTH."

YE HAVE CONDEMNED AND KILLED THE JUST

Listen, brothers and sisters in the Lord, the harsh truth is, there's not much good that the New Testament has to say about the rich:

"Go to now, ye rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come upon you.

"YOUR RICHES ARE CORRUPTED, and your garments are motheaten.

"Your gold and silver is cankered; and the rust of them shall be a witness against you, and shall eat your flesh as it were fire. Ye have heaped treasure together for the last days.

"Behold, the hire of the labourers who have reaped down your fields, which is of you KEPT BACK BY FRAUD, crieth: and the cries of them which have reaped are entered into the ears of the Lord of sabaoth.

"YE HAVE LIVED IN PLEASURE on the earth, and BEEN WANTON (i.e., you have been brazenly inconsiderate of the needs of others); ye have nourished your hearts, as in a day of slaughter.

"YE HAVE CONDEMNED AND KILLED THE JUST; and he doth not resist you." (James 5:1-6)

Pretty heavy! - nonetheless, that's what the New Testament has to say about the rich, THOUGH YOU ARE NOT LIKELY TO HAVE HEARD THIS FROM AMERICAN'S VENAL AND COMPROMISED CLERGY. The sad fact of the matter is, the Left has a much more realistic and even more BIBLICAL idea of what the rich are all about than most Christians, and - as a result - are far less prone to having the wool pulled over their eyes regarding them than are Christians. Take, for example, freelance researcher and writer Chaim Kupferberg who - like many others in the Left - have no trouble believing that the events of 9/11 were a STAGED DECEPTION.

That's what Kupferberg claims in a chilling article - "The Propaganda Preparation for 9/11" - that appeared in the magazine Global Outlook. Kupferberg articulates what so many others are too afraid to say: That the events of 9/11 were not so much the work of Islamic terrorists as they were the work of sinister devotees of America's New World Order System. Clearly, the Left believes that those who are behind the workings of this new world-empire are capable of anything.

SOME MIGHT THINK THAT THIS IS PREPOSTEROUS

Some might suppose it preposterous to believe this sort of thing; that the "manufacture" of such an event by the elites which aimed at precipitating a crisis that would lead to the installation of a National Security State and a condition of "endless war" is simply too complicated an affair for anyone to successfully "pull off."

But this kind of deceit has been going on for years. That's what Hitler's Reichstag Fire was all about - an event which Hitler used to whip up public sentiment in favor of the "Enabling Laws" that led to the Nazi Dictatorship; and in more recent times, that's what the Gulf of Tonkin incident involving the FAKE attack on the destroyer USS Maddox was all about - enabling President Johnson (who, interestingly enough, became president as a result of the JFK assassination) to push America into the Vietnam War, etc., etc. The fact is, history is FULL of this kind of deceit, provoking historian Richard Sanders to speak of the -

"WEBS OF DECEIT ... (that) are created to give the appearance that wars are fought for 'just' or 'humanitarian" reasons'."

THIS, NO DOUBT, IS PRECISELY WHAT IS HAPPENING TODAY IN IRAQ AS THE ELITES MANEUVER TO SEIZE CONTROL OF THAT COUNTRY'S OIL RESERVES under the rubric of "fighting terrorism" and "bringing democracy and human rights to the people of Iraq."

IT'S NOT THE FIRST TIME THIS HAS
HAPPENED; CASE IN POINT: GUATEMALA

The "workings" of this kind of elite manipulation on ordinary people are laid bare in what happened fifty years ago in Guatemala - and the similarities between what happened then in that poor Central American country and what is happening today in Iraq are sobering - and should cause all REAL evangelicals to carefully examine what the government today is peddling to them as the "truth." [Please see our article, "The American Empire: the Corporate / Pentagon / CIA / Missionary Archipelago" for a detailed description of the overthrow of the Arbenz government in 1954, and the shameless part the Wycliffe Bible Translators and Cam Townsend played in it as "lapdogs" to the CIA.]

Political historian Edward S. Herman describes what happened those fifty years ago in Guatemala; he writes:

"In the early 1950s, the U.S. government decided on a 'REGIME CHANGE' in Guatemala [the same kind of 'regime change' that the U.S. government is now contemplating for Iraq] ... U.S. hostility to Guatemala began in 1947 when the democratic government (of Guatemala) introduced a work code affirming the right of (Guatemalan) workers to organize and strike [something that the U.S. elites hate with a passion that is truly remarkable in its malice]. That hostility escalated when the Arbenz government (of Guatemala) proposed taking unused land from the United Fruit Company (UFC) at modest compensation rates (i.e., those the company had used for tax purposes) for redistribution to landless peasants. [It seems that the attempt by the U.S. elites to limit the taxes they paid to Guatemala by undervaluing the land they were using to grow bananas backfired on them in this particular instance.]

"United Fruit Company had intimate connections to the Eisenhower administration [just as Exxon-Mobil, Philips, Chevron-Texaco, etc. have close connections to the Bush government today] ... The company also did an outstanding job of press management, although, as Thomas McCann, UFC's public relations man in charge of its 'carefully staged and regulated tours', noted sardonically, 'It is difficult to make a convincing case of manipulation of the press when the victims (i.e., the press) proved so eager for the experience'.

"Of course the PROCLAIMED objective of ... (the proposed 'regime change') was neither protection of UFC nor the desirability of getting rid of a socialist government that allowed unions [i.e., the real reasons for the U.S. intervention] - it was the threat of 'international communism' and 'Soviet expansionists,' the long-time Cold War cover (i.e., bugaboo) for U.S. interventionism and support for undemocratic governments" [just as today the stated reason for 'regime change' in Iraq has nothing to do with the lust of the American and British oil companies for the oil wealth of Iraq, but rather with Iraq's so-called 'weapons of mass destruction' and its purported connections with al Qaeda].

SETTING GUATEMALA UP FOR AN ATTACK

The U.S. placed Guatemala under an "arms embargo," and threatened it with an attack from "friendly forces in the region" [i.e., U.S. supported death squads from neighboring Nicaragua, which was then a U.S. "client-state"].

In desperation, the Arbenz government bought arms from Czechoslovakia [which turned out to be a big mistake because it played right into the American "game"] with which to defend itself. This import of arms ended the necessity of carrying out the CIA plan to plant and "capture" arms designed for the "sinister leader of Guatemala (i.e., Arbenz)." Schlesinger and Kinzer, in their celebrated book, Bitter Fruit, write:

"Just a week earlier, the CIA had ... started to plant boxes of rifles with conspicuous Soviet markings near Nicaragua's Pacific coast, and to arrange for their 'discovery' by Nicaraguan police who would claim they came from a 'non-American submarine' sighted offshore."

All of this, of course, was nothing more than a BLATANT SHAM. The fact is, as historian Ronald Schneider says, there was no communist control or threat of control in Guatemala - and there were no Soviet submarines lurking ominously offshore ferrying arms into Guatemala in the dark of night. All that had happened was that the people of Guatemala - in a fair and open election - had chosen a popular socialist as their president who refused to be a lackey to the American corporate elites who controlled the country. Arbenz proposed throwing those elites out of the country, and returning the land that United Fruit had stolen from the peasants through illegal land transactions of one sort or another back to the people of Guatemala. That, of course, would never do insofar as the American elites were concerned!

As a result, the Eisenhower government began a sustained campaign of public denunciations of the Arbenz government, and the U.S. mainstream media, with the New York Times in the forefront, parroted the Administration's false claims and featured them relentlessly.

Piero Gleijeses reports in his book, Shattered Hope, how the press went to work, deliberately churning out tomes which shamelessly pictured Arbenz as the enemy of "the people" - all this despite the fact that Arbenz was in reality the "people's choice." For example, Sydney Gruson wrote a piece for the New York Times called, "How Communists Won Control of Guatemala" which brazenly suggested that Arbenz and his followers were controlled by the "Worldwide Communist Conspiracy" - which, of course, was another blatant lie. All of this contributed immeasurably to war hysteria at home - a desire to "get the Reds before they get us through America's back door in Central and South America."

Again, the similarities in all of this to what's going on today in Iraq are truly breath-taking; DIFFERENT ACTORS, A DIFFERENT "MOVIE SET;" BUT THE SAME PLAY AND THE SAME STORY-LINE.

FORCING THE WORLD TO GO ALONG WITH ITS DECEIT

But the Americans elites didn't stop there; they now attempted to mobilize support for an attack on Arbenz from among Guatemala's sister nations in Latin America, just as the Bush administration is now attempting to mobilize support in the United Nations and NATO for what it is doing today in Iraq. It seems that when we sin, we like to have as many people as possible join us in our sin, as if somehow or other that will mitigate the horror of what we are doing - and so much so that we take PLEASURE in their company; and that certainly is true with regard to Bush and his cohorts (especially his Christian cohorts) -

"Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things (i.e., in this case, rigging elections, lying, running death squads, working people to death for pennies a day on banana or coffee plantations, etc.) are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have PLEASURE in them that do them." (Rom. 1:32)

The American elites planned to begin garnering that support at the Tenth Inter-American Conference, to be held in Caracas, Venezuela in April 1954. Most of the OAS (Organization of American States) members were not happy about holding the meeting in Caracas because the leader of Venezuela, Perez Jiminez, was a slavish devotee of the American elites [just as the present leaders of Kuwait, Qatar, Jordan, and Egypt are today the slavish lackeys of America's oil elites, all of whom - like Jiminez before them - owe their existence to the bayonets of the American military]. Jiminez was at the time the most brutal dictator in Latin America and his jails were filled with political prisoners [just as the jails of the American stooges that today govern Kuwait, Qatar, Jordan, and Egypt are similarly filled up with their enemies]. But Perez enjoyed high status with the Eisenhower administration, which bestowed on him the American "Legion of Merit."

In answer to OAS country objections to Caracas, Gleijeses notes that the State Department "denounced any contrary view as interference in the internal affairs of a sister nation." Herman writes:

"At the OAS meeting in Caracas the main aim of U.S. Secretary of State Dulles was to get Latin leaders to agree to a condemnation of Guatemala, to set the stage for the already planned regime change. None of the Latin delegations supported Dulles's campaign, except those of the [at the time (i.e., 1954 - pre-Castro)] U.S.-beloved dictatorships of Nicaragua, the Dominican Republic, Cuba, and Venezuela. Even the New York Times reported that when the Guatemalan Foreign Minister Guillermo Toriello answered Dulles, he got double the applause given the U.S. Secretary of State, and Time Magazine quoted another Latin American representative as saying, "HE SAID MANY OF THE THINGS THE REST OF US WOULD LIKE TO SAY IF WE DARED." [Kind of like what Kupferberg is doing today insofar as the events of 9/11 are concerned.]

Nonetheless, as Herman says, U.S. bribes and threats were in the end successful. The U.S. had to accept minor concessions in language, so that the resolution adopted, instead of leaving it vague on what "appropriate action" should be taken "in the event that international communism triumphed in Guatemala," made it necessary that the United States return to the OAS to "consult" on further steps to be taken. Sound familiar? - it is! - and so much so that one would have to be excused in believing that all the Bush Administration is doing in Iraq is using the same "playbook" the Eisenhower Administration developed for Guatemala. Herman continues:

"Adding hypocrisy to its bullying, the United States tacked on to the resolution the high principle that, except for dealing with 'dangers originating outside this Hemisphere (the resolution) is designed to protect ... the inalienable right of each American state to choose its own form of government' [which is, of course, the very thing the U.S. government was denying the people of Guatemala].

"The 17-1 vote in favor of the U.S.-sponsored resolution was based on brutal arm twisting. A senior U.S. official acknowledged that Dulles 'spared no blandishment to get this Caracas Resolution through'. In Gliejeses's summation, 'Decades of submission and sordid calculations ... (based on) the hope of receiving a quid pro quo on economic issues ensured the pitiful capitulation'.

"But one hour after he got his agreement, Dulles was flying back to Washington, and 'those Latin Americans who had sold Guatemala (and Arbenz) out for the lure of U.S. dollars were robbed of their payment'." [Which is something the governments of Poland, Egypt, Turkey, Jordan (all governments that are presently supporting the U.S. position vis a vis Iraq) would do well to pay attention to; gangsters do not always deliver on their bribes.]

SETTING THE STAGE FOR A NEW
"DARK AGE" IN GUATEMALA

The groveling capitulation of Guatemala's sister nations set the stage for the U.S.-organized invasion of Guatemala in June 1954.

Despite a desperate appeal to the U.N. from the Arbenz government for protection against the aggression, the United States succeeded in preventing any useful U.N. intervention.

The democratically elected regime of Guatemala was overthrown by violence, ushering in a long "DARK AGE" for Guatemala. A LIE AND A DECEPTION

The New York Times - that shameless and hypocritical mouthpiece of the American elites - had contended back in 1954 that in its Guatemala policy, "the United States is not trying to block social and economic progress, but is interested rather in seeing that Guatemala becomes a liberal democracy." But Herman writes:

"THIS WAS A PROPAGANDA DELUSION AND LIE. GUATEMALA DID HAVE A LIBERAL DEMOCRACY BETWEEN 1945 AND 1954 AND IT WAS THAT DEMOCRACY THAT THE UNITED STATES DELIBERATELY AND KNOWINGLY ENDED. The counterrevolutionary regimes that followed did block social and economic progress, destroyed intermediate groups, outlawed dissent, and ended the possibility of reform by democratic means.

"Given the huge inequalities in the Guatemalan system, and with peaceable democratic processes foreclosed, guerrilla warfare periodically surfaced and, as Piero Gleijeses observed, 'only violence could maintain the status quo'. THE UNITED STATES RESPONDED TO THIS, NOT BY INSISTING ON DEMOCRATIZATION OR PROVIDING AID THAT COULD HELP THOSE AT THE BOTTOM, BUT BY INCREASING AID AND TRAINING TO THE MILITARY AND FACILITATING COUNTER-INSURGENCY WAR (i.e., the use of death squads). The military gradually took over control of Guatemala, and Guatemala became perhaps the first 'counterinsurgency state'. As Gleijeses has pointed out, 'Waves of extreme violence (as in 1966-1968, 1970-1973, and since 1978) alternated with periods of selective repression (as in 1974-'77), depending on the degree of pressure from below on ... (the upper class) and the military'. By 1980 the situation had become so terrible that an Amnesty International report was titled 'Guatemala: A Government Program of Political Murder'.

"The U.S. mass media, however, had lost interest in Guatemala once the 'Reds' were ousted, so the U.S. public was not made aware of the fact that the defeat of the (so-called) 'Reds' in 1954 had been a victory over democracy and reform and that the United States had ushered in, and for many decades aided and protected, a regime of EXCEPTIONAL terror."

GUATEMALA AND IRAQ: IT'S DE JA VU ALL OVER AGAIN

The lies and deceit that Herman describes here insofar as the American treatment of Guatemala is concerned are enough to take one's breath away - and now it's happening all over again - this time in Iraq; only on a much larger and sustained level.

It is precisely this kind of continuing duplicity and trickery that cannot help but open one up to the otherwise unthinkable possibility that the events of 9/11 have been devised. THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT CHAIM KUPFERBERG IS TALKING ABOUT WHEN HE SAYS THAT 9/11 IS AN ARTIFICE CREATED BY A HIDDEN CABAL OF AMERICAN NEW WORLD ORDER DEVOTEES INTENT (as we have already suggested) ON CREATING A NATIONAL SECURITY STATE INTERNALLY, AND EXTERNALLY A STATE OF PERPETUAL WAR.

The fact is, in making this charge, Kupferberg is probably doing nothing more than what the Guatemalan Foreign Minister Guillermo Toriello did fifty years ago in Caracas: SAYING THINGS THE REST OF US WOULD LIKE TO SAY IF WE DARED.

GORE VIDAL AND 9/11

According to Kupferberg, the events of 9/11 are about as real as Soviet submarines surfacing off the coast of Nicaragua in 1954 to ferry arms to the so-called communists of Guatemala. And it's not just Kupferberg, but many, many others who think so; take Gore Vidal, for example. Vidal writes:

"Stan Goff (a retired U.S. Army veteran who taught Military Science and Doctrine at West Point) writes, 'I have no idea why people aren't asking some very specific questions about the actions of Bush and company on the day of the attacks. Four planes get hijacked and deviate from their flight plans, all the while on FAA radar' ... Incidentally, Goff, like the other astonished military experts, cannot fathom why the government's automatic 'standard order of procedure in the event of a hijacking' was not followed. Once a plane has deviated from its flight plan, fighter planes are sent up to find out why. That is mandatory law and does not require presidential approval, which only needs to be given if there is a decision to shoot down the plane.

"Goff spells it out: 'The planes are all hijacked between 7:45 and 8:10 AM Eastern Daylight Time. Who is notified? This is an event already that is unprecedented. But the President is not notified and going to a Florida school to hear children read. By around 8:15 AM it should be very apparent that something is terribly wrong. The President is glad-handling teachers. By 8:45, when American Flight 11 crashes into the World Trade Center (a FULL HOUR after the first plane is hijacked), Bush is settling in with children for his photo ops at Booker Elementary. Four planes have obviously been hijacked simultaneously, an event never before seen in history, and one has just dived into the world's best-known twin towers, and still no one notifies the nominal Commander-in-Chief.

"'No one has apparently scrambled (sent aloft) any Air Force interceptors either. At 9:03, (ONE HOUR AND EIGHTEEN MINUTES after the first plane is hijacked) United Flight 175 crashes into the remaining World Trade Center building. At 9:05 (ALMOST TWO WHOLE HOURS after the first plane is hijacked) Andrew Card, the Presidential Chief-of-Staff, whispers to George W. Bush (who) 'briefly turns somber' according to reporters. Does he cancel the school visit and convene an emergency meeting? No. He resumes listening to second graders ... and continues the banality even as American Airlines Flight 77 conducts an unscheduled point turn over Ohio and heads in the direction of Washington DC. Has he instructed Chief-of-Staff Card to scramble the Air Force? No. An excruciating 25 minutes later (ONE HOUR AND FORTY-FIVE MINUTES after the first plane is hijacked), he finally deigns to give a public statement telling the United States what they have already figured out - that there's been an attack by hijacked planes on the World Trade Center. There's a hijacked plane beelining to Washington, but has the Air Force been scrambled to defend anything yet? No.

"'At 9:30 when he makes his announcement, American Flight 77 is still ten minutes from its target, the Pentagon. The Administration will later claim they had no way of knowing that the Pentagon might be a target, and they thought Flight 77 was headed to the White House, but the fact is that the plane has already flown South and past the White House no-fly zone, and is in fact tearing through the sky at 400 nauts. At 9:35, this plane conducts another turn, 360 degrees over the Pentagon, all the while being tracked by radar, and the Pentagon is not evacuated, and there are still no fast-movers from the Air Force (ONE HOUR AND FORTY-FIVE MINUTES after the first plane is hijacked) in the sky over Alexandria and DC. Now the real kicker: a pilot they want us to believe was trained at a Florida puddle-jumper school for Piper Cubs and Cessnas, conducts a well-controlled downward spiral descending the last 7,000 feet in two-and-a-half minutes, brings the plane in so low and flat that it clips the electrical wires across the street from the Pentagon, and flies it with pinpoint accuracy into the side of the building at 469 nauts.

"'When the theory about learning to fly this well at the puddle-jumper school began to lose ground, it was added that they received further training on a flight simulator. THIS IS LIKE SAYING YOU PREPARED YOUR TEENAGER FOR HER FIRST DRIVE ON I-40 AT RUSH HOUR BY BUYING HER A VIDEO DRIVING GAME ... THERE IS A STORY BEING CONSTRUCTED ABOUT THESE EVENTS'." Moreover, one should not forget that during this entire time, passengers on all four flights are using their cell phones to frantically call anyone and everyone they can reach - over one hundred separate calls are placed over a period of almost two hours - to tell the world what's occurring - IN DETAIL. And the government - let alone the president - doesn't take any action for two hours? Come on now! - it's easier to believe in the tooth fairy than this "cock and bull" story. People believe it only because they WANT to believe it, not because it makes any sense/

THAT'S NOT THE END OF THE LIES
AND DECEPTION: AHMED AND ATTA

But that's not the end of the inconsistencies in the government's story concerning the events of 9/11. In addition to all this subterfuge (including as well the deceptions we described in our article, "The Events of September 11, 2001: What's Going On"), Michael Chossudovsky, a Professor of Economics at the University of Ottawa and Director of the Centre for Research on Globalization - in an article that appeared in Global Outlook entitled "Mysterious September 11 Breakfast Meeting on Capitol Hill" - tells how in the late days of August 2001, barely two weeks before 9/11, Senator Bob Graham and Representative Porter Goss, the then chairmen of the Senate and House Select Committees on Intelligence, were in Islamabad, Pakistan for consultations with the head of Pakistan's Inter Services Intelligence Agency (ISI), General Mahmoud Ahmad.

It should be noted in this connection that both Graham and Goss are closely connected to the CIA - indeed, Goss is a 10-year veteran of the CIA's clandestine operation wing, [Please see our article on the ISI and its complicity in the events of 9/11 entitled, "The War in Afghanistan: It's Not What You think."] No doubt, both men were acting as high-level conduits for the CIA.

Chossudovsky also describes a second meeting a few weeks later that Goss and Graham had with Ahmad, this time in Washington DC, a meeting that from all appearances was supposed to have been kept secret from the public. Even the fact of Ahmed's presence in Washington was evidently supposed to have been a secret - or at least it was not announced to the press until a reporter spotted the three of them in a hotel having breakfast together and reported the meeting in his paper the next day. The date of the meeting? - THE MORNING OF SEPTEMBER 11, 2001.

Now in and of itself, these two meetings - one in Islamabad and the other a few weeks later on the morning of September 11th in Washington - wouldn't be enough to arouse much suspicion - UNTIL, THAT IS, ONE UNDERSTANDS THAT THERE WAS A RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN MAHMOUD AHMAD, THE ISI CHIEF, AND MOHAMED ATTA, THE LEADER OF THE AL-QAEDA CELL THAT HIJACKED THE PLANES THAT WERE EVENTUALLY RAMMED INTO THE WORLD TRADE CENTER AND THE PENTAGON.

The Times of India first reported the story on the relationship between these two men (i.e., Atta and Ahmed); it certainly wasn't the corporate, "mainstream" media in the United States. [Please see our article on the "controlled" press in the United States entitled, "The Corporate State and the Mass Media."] Then the Times of India reported the real STINGER: THAT A FEW DAYS BEFORE SEPTEMBER 11th, AHMED TRANSFERRED $100,000 TO ATTA. Now think about the enormity of this for a minute! - here we have Goss and Graham - both high-level conduits for the CIA and members of Congress - meeting with Mahmoud Ahmad, a man who has just transferred over $100,000 to Mohamed Atta who carried out the al Qaeda attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. Eeee gads, this is the kind of "stuff" that would make even the most skeptical non-believer in conspiracism pause and take a breath.

The magnitude of this revelation is made all the greater when one understands THAT THERE HAS BEEN AN AGREEMENT IN PLACE FOR MORE THAN TWENTY YEARS WHICH MANDATES THAT THE CIA MUST "PASS" ON THE "ACCEPTABILITY" OF THE CHIEF OF THE ISI BEFORE HE CAN EVEN BE CONSIDERED FOR THE OFFICE. IN OTHER WORDS, THE CHANCE THAT THE TRANSFER OF SUCH A HUGE AMOUNT OF MONEY FROM THE ISI TO MOHAMMED ATTA COULD HAVE GONE UNNOTICED BY THE CIA IS ABOUT AS REAL AS THE EXISTENCE OF BLUE CHEESE ON THE MOON. After these facts became "public knowledge," Ahmad was told to "request" early retirement and "get lost" - and, according to the Times, this request originated with the American government.

LIES AND DECEIT

Needless to say, all of this, when taken together, is INCREDIBLE! - and so much so that it is in fact much easier to believe that the events of 9/11 were contrived than to believe otherwise; that 9/11 is a LIE and a SHAM cooked up by Bush and his cronies, the CIA and the CIA's puppet masters in Chevron Oil, Exxon-Mobil, Philips, etc. - and it's a very SCARY one at that because it gives an insight into the fantastic and very frightening mindset of these people. After all, as Kupferberg writes,

"It is no small act to INTENTIONALLY take down such an overarching symbol of financial stability as the Twin Towers, and chance killing thousands in the process. The very brazenness of the act, the naked aggression, would necessitate a TENACIOUS DETERMINATION to achieve the ends for which these actions were perpetrated. THERE IS NO GOING BACK NOW. AN INFRASTRUCTURE IS BEING LAID OUT - ONE THAT WILL, FINALLY, PROVIDE A DISSIDENT-PROOF TOTALITARIAN OLIGARCHY COMPOSED OF LIKE-MINDED ELITES SERVED BY AN UNDER-CLASS (i.e., that's you and me) KEPT UNDER CONSTANT SURVEILLANCE."

Kupferberg continues:

"The edifice of this regime (i.e., the American New World Order System - particularly as it applies to the United States) is being constructed, brick by brick, with the mortar of the Office of Homeland Security (to centralize and coordinate an effective police state - Kupferberg), the Freedom Corps (to indoctrinate the most idealist - and therefore activist - of the populace toward service to the state - Kupferberg), and the Patriot Act (to provide the legal basis for subverting long-held rights under the screen of national security - Kupferberg)."

EVERYONE SEES WHAT'S
HAPPENING EXCEPT THE CHRISTIANS

Again, the Left sees what's happening; people in Germany and France see what's happening; people in the Third World see what's happening - that is to say that the American New World Order System has NOTHING to do with God, and everything to do with the devil; that it is in fact the BEAST that the Bible describes in the Book of Daniel as "... DREADFUL and TERRIBLE, and STRONG EXCEEDINGLY with great iron teeth: that DEVOURS and BRAKES IN PIECES ..." (Daniel 7:7); and in Isaiah as an "OVERFLOWING SCOURGE" (Is. 28:18); one that is seeking to gain mastery over the entire earth and establish a ONE-WORLD EMPIRE (Dan. 7:7) - an empire that will bring ruin and poverty to the peoples and nations of the world. But American Christians remain totally ignorant - indeed, almost purposefully ignorant - about what's occurring, so that -

"... seeing they may see, and NOT perceive; and hearing they may hear, and NOT understand ..." (Mark 4:12)

USING 9/11 AS A PRETEXT FOR EMPIRE-BUILDING

In the end, however, it doesn't really matter whether the events of 9/11 were contrived or not; the fact of the matter is, 9/11 - whether "invented" or not - is shamelessly being used to justify the creation of a fierce and very brutal NATIONAL SECURITY STATE in this country, and as a devise through which the U.S. can excuse itself to its own citizens for waging an ENDLESS WAR - a PLANNED AGGRESSION - against the rest of the world, and most particularly Iraq (at least for now); that this is exactly what is happening (i.e., that the aggression against Iraq was planned well before the events of 9/11, and that 9/11 is being used as a pretext to carry out this aggression) is easy enough to see: For example, Glen Kessler of the Washington Post writes:

"On September 17, 2001, six days after the attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, President Bush signed a 2 1/2-page document marked "TOP SECRET" that outlined the plan for going to war in Afghanistan as part of a global campaign against terrorism."

The preamble to the document makes it seem that the so-called "War on Terror" (and, ipso facto, the War in Afghanistan against al Qaeda and the Taliban) resulted DIRECTLY from the events of September 11; but the REAL reason behind the so-called "War on Terror" is spelled out almost as an afterthought later in the document: TO SEIZE CONTROL OF THE IRAQI OIL FIELDS; Kessler writes:

"Almost as a footnote, the document also directed the Pentagon TO BEGIN PLANNING MILITARY OPTIONS FOR AN INVASION OF IRAQ, senior administration officials said."

Kessler continues,

"The previously undisclosed Iraq directive is characteristic of an internal decision-making process THAT HAS BEEN (purposefully) OBSCURED FROM PUBLIC VIEW. Over the next nine months, the administration would make Iraq the central focus of its war on terrorism WITHOUT PRODUCING A ... PAPER TRAIL OR RECORD LEADING TO A FORMAL DECISION TO ACT AGAINST PRESIDENT SADDAM HUSSEIN, according to a review of administration decision-making based on interviews with more than 20 participants."

Seize control of the Iraqi oil fields? Yes! Of course! - that's clearly what the document Bush signed on September 17, 2001 was really all about! The so-called "War on Terror" is nothing but a "front" - a disguise, a mask - for this operation!

FERRETING OUT WHO'S BEHIND THE WAR

Kessler goes on:

"THE DECISION TO CONFRONT IRAQ WAS IN MANY WAYS A VICTORY FOR A SMALL GROUP OF CONSERVATIVES who, at the start of the administration, found themselves outnumbered by more moderate voices in the military and the foreign policy bureaucracy. THEIR TOUGH LINE ON IRAQ BEFORE SEPT. 11, 2001, was embraced quickly ... after the attacks. But that shift was not communicated to opponents of military action until months later, when the internal battle was already decided."

In other words, according to Kessler, the decision to go to war with Iraq had little or nothing to do with the events of 9/11, and everything to do with the hidden aspirations of a small clique of "conservatives" buried deep within the Bush Administration. Once more, it's Guatemala all over again - in SPADES.

Who were these people? Kessler doesn't really say, but whoever they were, Kessler was appalled by their LUST for war with Iraq; he quotes a top State Department official who was familiar with the group as saying that its motivation for war with Iraq was almost "THEOLOGICAL" (Kessler's word) in its intensity. Another administration official echoed this view, saying that -

"IT'S ALMOST A RELIGION (with this group) - THAT IT WILL BE THE END OF OUR SOCIETY IF WE DON'T TAKE ACTION NOW (AGAINST IRAQ)."

Neil Mackay, writing for the Sunday Herald in Sydney, Australia, says he knows exactly what group Kessler is talking about: It's called "THE PROJECT FOR THE NEW AMERICAN CENTURY" (PNAC)." Eeee gads! - NO WONDER THEIR PRONOUNCEMENTS HAVE A RELIGIOUS OR THEOLOGICAL TONE AND QUALITY TO THEM. PNAC: BRINGING THE EVANGELICALS AND THE
OIL ELITES TOGETHER IN A "COMMON CAUSE"

PNAC's membership is composed of a small number of fervent American New World Order devotees such as Richard Perle, Frank Gaffney, Jeane Kirkpatrick, Michael Ledeen, Marc Reuel Gerecht, etc. as well as elite economic groups that revolve around Exxon/Mobile, Chevron, Haliburton, Philips, and "heavy-hitters" from the Christian Evangelical Community - the group that forms the CORE political constituency for George Bush's "mass" political following. PNAC is dedicated to promoting Bush's "War on Terrorism" as a RELIGIOUS conflict between Jews and Christians (on the one hand) and Islam (on the other hand) - which explains the THEOLOGICAL tone in their pronouncements concerning the war.

Now that's something to set one on edge! - i.e., that the coming war in Iraq has been "cooked up" by a secret clique of American New World Order devotees dedicated to the capture of the oil riches of the Middle East working together with an equally secret cabal of Christian evangelicals who are devoted to the extinction of Islam - BUT THAT IS PRECISELY WHAT THE WAR IS ALL ABOUT!

Leftists all over the world, of course, recognize what the oil elites are up to; that's a "no-brainer:" CONTROL OF THE WORLD'S OIL SUPPLIES. But very few recognize what the American evangelicals are up to here: THE EXTINCTION OF THEIR 1500-YEAR OLD ENEMY: ISLAM! Or, if they do, they do not put much stock in it! BUT THEY ARE MAKING A GREAT MISTAKE IN NOT DOING SO! The fact is, ordinary people will not fight and die for Chevron Oil (very little of the oil profit that accrues to Chevron Oil will ever find itself into the pockets of ordinary folks), but they will fight and die for their God, or at least what they think is the "will of God."

ADDING RELIGION TO THE MIX

The elites understand this, and are generously adding religion to the mix in the Middle East and Central Asia in their quest for the oil riches of these two regions to give a steely BACKBONE to what they're up to - the kind of backbone that would make men die in their service, confirming the words of Pascal when he said:

"Men never do evil so completely and cheerfully as when they do it from religious conviction!"

One can now begin to understand the fright behind Kupferberg's comments when he said:

"It is no small act to intentionally take down such an overarching symbol of financial stability as the Twin Towers, and chance killing thousands in the process. The very brazenness of the act, the naked aggression, would necessitate a TENACIOUS DETERMINATION to achieve the ends for which these actions were perpetrated." [But remember, in this particular case, Kupferberg is not talking here about radical Muslims, but what he supposes to be radical Christians in the service of the oil elites.]

THERE IS A LOT AT STAKE HERE; FOR THE ELITES: CONTROL OF THE WORLD AND THE RICHES THAT GO ALONG WITH IT; FOR THE CHRISTIANS: "CONQUERING THE EARTH FOR CHRIST AND THE CHURCH." That's the kind of thing that people are willing to be "TENACIOUS" about; to be "DETERMINED" about; the kind of thing for which some people would actually be willing to sacrifice thousands of lives - the kind of thing that would send two Boeing 767s into the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center and another 767 into the Pentagon. Kupferberg thinks so. It's for this reason that the elites have made a place for the Christian evangelicals in their councils; THAT'S WHAT THE "PROJECT FOR THE NEW AMERICAN CENTURY" (i.e., PNAC) IS ALL ABOUT: MAKING A PLACE FOR THE AMERICAN EVANGELICALS IN THE COUNCILS OF THE RICH.

CREATING A GLOBAL PAX AMERICANA BASED
ON CONTROL OF THE WORLD'S OIL SUPPLIES

According to Mackay, the plan that PNAC has developed calls for -

"... THE CREATION OF A GLOBAL PAX AMERICANA. (The plan was devised) in September 2000 ... (A FULL YEAR BEFORE THE ATTACK ON THE WORLD TRADE CENTER AND THE PENTAGON) and proves that Bush ... intended to take military control of the Gulf region ... (long before the events of 9/11) ..."

A GLOBAL PAX AMERICANA; an American New World Order System that the rich hope to use to pillage and plunder the earth with, and a mechanism through which American evangelicals think they can conquer the earth for "Christ and the church." Now one would think that surely the evangelicals will come to realize that these two goals are incompatible. But by now, they are so drunk with the power that has accrued to them as a result of their partnership with the elites that they are blind to all this, so that -

"... seeing they may see, and NOT perceive; and hearing they may hear, and NOT understand ..." (Mark 4:12)

Mackay continues:

"The PNAC document ... (provides) a 'blueprint for maintaining global U.S. pre-eminence, PRECLUDING THE RISE OF ANY ... RIVAL, and shaping the international security order in line with American principles and interests'. This American grand strategy must be advanced for 'AS FAR INTO THE FUTURE AS POSSIBLE', the report says ... The report describes American armed forces abroad as 'the cavalry on the new American frontier'. The PNAC blueprint supports an earlier document written by Wolfowitz and Libby that said the U.S. must DISCOURAGE ADVANCED INDUSTRIAL NATIONS FROM CHALLENGING OUR LEADERSHIP OR EVEN ASPIRING TO A LARGER REGIONAL OR GLOBAL ROLE'."

Tom Dalyell, a leading British political figure in the Labour Party - in great consternation and dismay as to what the Americans are up to and the part the British are playing in it as "lap dogs" to the Americans - cries out:

"THIS IS A BLUEPRINT FOR U.S. WORLD DOMINATION - A NEW WORLD ORDER OF THEIR MAKING. THESE ARE THE THOUGHT PROCESSES OF FANTASIST AMERICANS WHO WANT TO CONTROL THE WORLD."

And it's not just Dalyell; political figures all over the world echo Dalyell's concern regarding the implications of the PNAC document. It provides a somber background as to why France, Germany, Russia and China are doing everything they can in the U.N. Security Council to oppose what the U.S. is planning to do in Iraq. But their efforts in the Security Council will never work. What do they expect to do? - throw paper resolutions at American tanks and stealth bombers.

The truth is, the U.S. is bent on world domination, and that means, ipso facto, CONTROL THE WORLD'S OIL SUPPLY - and all the chatter and blather that the Europeans can marshal against them in the U.N. Security Council is not going to change that even for one minute. The very real fact of the matter is, IN THIS WORLD AT LEAST, IT'S GUNS THAT COUNT, NOT RESOLUTIONS WRITTEN ON SCRAPS OF PAPER - AND THE U.S. HAS THE GUNS, AND ALL THE EUROPEANS HAVE IS PAPER - and insofar as all this is concerned, the European's situation is only getting worse.

ENCIRCLING CENTRAL ASIA AND THE MIDDLE
EAST WITH A RING OF U.S. MILITARY BASES

The fact of the matter is, the Americans have already captured the oil riches of Central Asia [and encircled the entire area - which stretches from Georgia on the west near the Black Sea through Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan to Kyrgistan on the east on the border near China - with thirteen massive military bases (including the bases in Afghanistan itself)] - that's what the War in Afghanistan was all about. Now they are aiming to do the same thing in the Middle East - again, that's what the coming War in Iraq is all about. The Europeans, of course, are more than aware that what all this means is their PERMANENT and very SERVILE subjugation to U.S. hegemony. No more pretending now! No more pretense at equality; no more affectation of parity.

KICKING EUROPIAN OIL COMPANIES OUT OF THE MIDDLE
EAST IN FAVOR OF AMERICAN AND BRITISH OIL FIRMS

Eric Waddell, a professor of Geography at Laval University, writing for the magazine Global Outlook, says that control of the Central Asian oil fields together with the oil fields in the Middle East will give the United States control over at least THREE-QUARTERS OF THE WORLD'S SUPPLY OF OIL AND NATURAL GAS. IT WOULD ALSO MEAN CONTROL OVER THE EASTBOUND, WESTBOUND, AND SOUTHBOUND OIL AND GAS PIPELINE ROUTES OUT OF THE REGION. Waddell writes:

"What is ultimately at stake in Iraq is not human rights, peace or stability, but the intention on the part of the U.S. and its indefectible British ally to establish control over one of the world's largest, cheapest and most easily accessible oil reserves ...

"The Anglo-American oil giants (BP, Chevron-Texaco, Shell, Exxon) are all absent from Iran and Iraq, which have signed oil contracts and production sharing agreements with French, Russian, and Chinese oil companies."

According to Waddell, most of these agreements were signed by Hussein with the Europeans since the last Gulf War in the hope that Iraq could secure the assistance of these countries in putting pressure on the Americans to relent on the oil embargo. But that hasn't worked. All it has done is to fix in the minds of the Americans the "necessity" of throwing the "crafty" Europeans out of the Middle East for good. Waddell reports that, according to the Washington Post,

"A U.S.-led ouster of Iraqi President Saddam Hussein could open a bonanza for American oil companies long banished from Iraq, scuttling oil deals between Baghdad and France, Russia, and other countries, and reshuffling world petroleum markets ... A proposed $40 billion Iraq-Russian economic agreement also reportedly includes opportunities for Russian companies to explore for oil in Iraq's western desert. The French company Total Fina Elf has negotiated for rights to develop the huge Majnoon field, near the Iranian border, which may contain 30 billion barrels of oil."

Waddell continues,

"Similarly the Franco-Belgian consortium, Total-Fina-Elf, in partnership with Italy's ENI, also has sizable investments in Iran. Total had established, together with Russia's Gazprom and Malaysia's Petronas, a joint venture with the National Iranian Oil company (NIOC). Washington has, on several occasions, attempted to break France's deal with Tehran on the grounds that it openly contravened the Iran-Libya Sanctions Act.

"IT IS HARDLY SURPRISING THAT THE RECENT SECURITY COUNCIL DEBATES OVER ACTION TO BE TAKEN AGAINST IRAQ HAVE DIVIDED THE PERMANENT MEMBERS, WITH TWO OF THE FIVE - U.S.A. AND U.K. - DEMANDING IMMEDIATE MILITARY ACTION - FRANCE AND RUSSIA - CLEARLY OPPOSING SUCH AN INITIATIVE, AND THE FIFTH - CHINA - STANDING EQUIVOCALLY ON THE SIDELINES.

Waddell concludes:

"THE WAR AGAINST IRAQ IS BEING FOUGHT ON BEHALF OF THE ANGLO-AMERICAN OIL GIANTS: BP, EXXON-MOBIL, CHEVRON-TEXACO, AND SHELL. THE FIRST OBJECTIVE IS TO SECURE THE CONTROL BY US-UK FORCES OF IRAQ'S OIL FACILITIES IN THE PERSIAN GULF."

SLAVISH DEVOTEES

This, of course, is NOT what the elites would have people believe; instead they would have us believe that we are going to war with Iraq for "humanitarian reasons" and to bring the Iraqi people the "blessings of democracy" at the point of a gun. And insofar as Christians are concerned, they are being led to believe that the War in Iraq is being undertaken in the name of "Christ and the church." This is certainly what Christians in the United States believe.

This is surely what Christian leaders believe - leaders like Paul Crouch, David and Justin Du Plessis, Jack Hayford, Dr. Kevin Ranaghan, Ken Metz, Charles Stanley, D. James Kennedy, Tim LaHaye, the late John Wimber, Juan Carlos Ortiz, C. Peter Wagner, Beverley LaHaye, Ern Baxter, Kenneth Copeland, Kenneth Hagin, Oral Roberts, Pat Robertson, Jerry Falwell, Chuck Colson, David Yonggi Cho, Robert Stearns, Mike Bickle, Reuven Doron, Che Ahn, Frank Hammond, Cindy Jacobs, Bill Hamon, John Eckhardt, Bobbie Byerly, Dutch Sheets, Jim Goll, John Paul Jackson, James Ryle, Frank Damazio, Ed Silvoso, Carlos Annacondia, Claudio Freidzon, Roger Mitchell, Ted Haggart, Paul Cain, Chuck Pierce, Rick Joyner, Kingsley Fletcher, Jim Laffoon, Barbara Wentroble, ad infinitum

A MISSION FROM GOD

And it is not as if Bush does not embrace this agenda as well - that he is driven only by the lust for wealth that his cohorts in the Economic Right are driven by. There is much more that is driving Bush than that. The fact is, he is coming more and more to believe the stories that are gathering around him in the "Christian press." He is becoming a TRUE BELIEVER himself. Leftist commentator, Michael Ortiz Hill, sees what's happening. He writes:

"I'd become accustomed to George W. Bush's use of the word evil until he told the nations this last spring, 'THE EVIL ONE IS AMONG US'. Anyone with a passing understanding of the evangelical world of Bush's faith knows he was referring to the Antichrist. The implications of this are grave beyond telling and yet scarcely ever noted in the public discourse. On the eve of a misguided war the Commander-in-Chief of the most powerful military force in human history has located American foreign policy within a Biblical narrative that leads inexorably towards the plains of Megiddo, roughly fifty five miles northwest of Jerusalem: the battle of Armageddon ...

"There are many aspects to the ... (evangelical - really, the "Promise-Keepers"-kind of Christianity) of the end of days not the least being the conversion of the Jews to the ... Messiah before the final battle. In Bush's political autobiography (A Charge to Keep) he places himself squarely in the mainstream of the ... (Promise-Keepers') thought. Recounting his pilgrimage to the Holy Land, Bush writes of entering into the waters of Galilee in the apparent baptism of a 'Jewish friend'. It was then that the hymn came to his mind:

Now the time is approaching
By prophets long foretold
When all shall dwell together
One Shepherd and one fold
Now Jew and Gentile meeting
From many a distant shore
Around an altar kneeling
One common Lord adore."

"SHOCK AND AWE"

There's no doubt today that Bush's vision of himself and America now transcends the predatory visions of wealth that drive most of his friends in the Economic Right; that he has actually come to see himself as a world figure DESTINED BY GOD to bring the blessings of Christianity to the world - EVEN AT THE POINT OF A GUN using a technique that military planners call "SHOCK AND AWE."

This technique conceives the use of military power in a way that is meant not only to "shock and awe" the people of Iraq, but ALL the peoples and ALL the nations of the earth - DEMONSTRATING IN ITS POWER THAT AMERICA IS GOD'S CHOSEN NATION DESTINED BY HIM TO REDEEM THE WORLD TO "CHRIST AND THE CHURCH," THE POWER ITSELF BEING "PROOF POSITIVE" OF THAT FACT.

"SHOCK AND AWE" envisions using a "Star Wars technology" that no other nation on earth possesses (or can ever hope to possess), and one that involves raining down on Baghdad in the first two days of war more bombs than all the bombs (smart and otherwise) that were rained down on Iraq in the whole of Desert Storm in 1991.

In addition, the attack envisages the use "pulse weapons" (i.e., high-power microwave weapons) designed to create man-made lightning bolts that are so huge that they will zap the electronic circuitry of everything from jet fighters to TV sets, car ignitions, super market scanners, telephone and microwave circuitry, etc., and that will render Iraq totally helpless before the American onslaught.

RIGHTEOUS AND GOOD

Hill believes that in the upcoming war, the antiChrist that Bush imagines that he is fighting against is the "force" that is animating Islam, and he is determined - in the name of God - to destroy that "force" and restore the nations and peoples of Islam to "the church." Hill says that Bush sees the coming war in the Middle East as -

"... righteous, good and NECESSARY."

This, of course is EXACTLY what most Christians in the United States think as well. To this end, both Bush and his Christian followers have begun a huge undertaking - a vast CRUSADE (as it were) - to take the world back from the false religion of the Islamic fundamentalists in the Middle East, Central Asia and elsewhere, and even - eventually - from the "secular-humanists" in "post-Christian" Europe which they see as an effete, degenerate and spiritually exhausted people. THE DECEPTION OF THE "END OF DAYS"

But as Christians, how does such a crusade square with the teaching of Scripture? Clearly, it doesn’t! And if it doesn’t, one must ask himself whether such a crusade is really the result of God’s leading or the consequence of Satanic DECEPTION. This is an important question, because how one answers it will determine one’s future in no small measure - the road to Hell, after all, is paved with good intentions.

The very real fact of the matter is, if all that the Bible contains on the subject of evil could be exhaustively dealt with, we should find that more knowledge is given on the technique - i.e., the methodology - of Satan than many have realized, and at the heart of his technique is DECEPTION. From Genesis to Revelation the work of Satan as a DECEIVER can be traced, until the climax is reached in the "GREAT DECEPTION" of the "very elect" in the "Latter Days."

Deception is truly a sinister and clandestine craft, and its work today in what passes for "evangelical Christianity" has become so lethal and toxic that the faith of countless numbers of heretofore sound Bible-believing Christians is being poisoned; yet it is so subtle and delicate in its intrigue that those who have been entangled in its web of fraud and trickery hardly realize that their faith has been thus corrupted.

We find recorded in Genesis Satan’s first work as deceiver, and the subtle form of his method of deception. We see him here working upon man’s highest and purest desires, and cloaking his own purpose of ruin under the guise of seeking to lead men and women into a closer relationship with God. We see him using good to bring about evil; suggesting evil to bring about good. Caught with the bait of being "wise" and "like God," man is blinded to the principle of simple faith, and is deceived - and in the end, the desire to be "good" has counted for little. Indeed, the cleverest way in which the devil deceives is when he comes in the likeness of somebody or something which apparently causes a person to "be more like God" and/or to be "good." But the Bible somberly warns us:

"There is a way which seemeth right (i.e., good) unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death." (Proverbs 14:12)

I Tim. 4:1-2 explicitly shows the special cause of the peril to the church in the closing days of this era, and how Satan will break in upon her members, and by DECEPTION beguile many:

"Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;

"Speaking lies  in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron ..." (I Tim. 4:1-2)

The word hypocrisy here means to present a lie as the truth. Thus, as we suggested in the beginning of this article, the peril to the church at the close of the age is from people who present a lie as the truth; from hypocrites who claim to be one thing, but who in reality are something else altogether; people who pass themselves off as Christians, but who are, nonetheless, unalterably opposed to God - much as Judas was.

The peril from such men concerns every true Christian in the "Latter Days." The prophecy declares that (1) some Christians shall fall away from the faith; and (2) the reason for their fall will be that they have given heed to a DECEPTION - a teaching which outwardly appears to lead to God and to bring about "good," but which in reality leads to disgrace and dishonor.

These hypocrites are believed because outwardly they appear to be "good," to be "spiritual." The so-called "good life" or "spiritual life" of these hypocrites is taken as a sufficient guarantee for their teaching.

But goodness is no guarantee of the truth: all teaching must be judged against the Written Word. Nothing else will suffice. To think that goodness and "good intentions" are adequate warrants for the truth is to take the first step down the road to deception. Such thinking has its foundation in the prevalent idea that everything that Satan does is manifestly evil, the truth not being realized that he works under cover of light. (2 Cor. 11:14)

We repeat, there is only one principle for testing the source of all doctrine - and that is not "good intentions," but the Written Word, the Bible.

APOSTASY: THE "FALLING AWAY"

But how is it possible that so many evangelicals - including a vast portion of our leadership - could have allowed themselves to be so dulled spiritually that they have become such easy targets for these hypocrites? The answer is apostasy! Apostasy is not necessarily false doctrine and/or sin - though it can be this, and there can be no question that these things inevitably follow in the wake of apostasy - but rather it is, in the first instance, the falling away of Christians from a view of themselves as citizens of Christ’s heavenly kingdom to a view of themselves as citizens of the kingdom of this world. The Bible says:

"Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day (i.e., the day of the rapture and resurrection) shall not come, except there come a falling away (i.e., apostasy) first ..." (2 Thess. 2:3)

If we truly are aliens to this world, as the Scriptures so plainly declare we are, what should we have to do with its politics? - nothing of course. Why should we as aliens seek to involve ourselves in the politics of a foreign country? To do so diverts us from the single mission which we have been Scripturally commissioned to accomplish - to convince as many people as possible as we journey through our life here on earth to join us in seeking that better land - that "heavenly country" whose builder and maker is God.

To get involved politically in the land (i.e., the world) we say we are leaving is to reveal ourselves as nothing more than frauds - people who don’t really intend to leave - and unbelievers have a stubborn and pernicious way of noticing such inconsistencies; and then we have the chutzpah and temerity to wonder why we are so ineffectual in leading people to Christ?

THE BAIT WHICH LEADS TO
APOSTASY: THE DESIRE FOR WEALTH

It’s wealth - or, as is more often the case, the desire for wealth (for most people never really get it) - which blinds us to the transitory nature of our connection to this world and which leads us into apostasy. Apostasy inevitably develops when Christians - because of their worldly comfort and wealth, or simply their desire for material things - refuse to acknowledge in word, deed, or action the fact that they are merely "pilgrims and strangers" - aliens - to this world and this present life.

It is the desire for material things which diverts Christians from their journey - from seeing this world as merely a "way station" on their path towards a better world. Paul wasn’t just kidding when He said,

"For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.

"And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.

"For they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.

"For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows." (II Tim. 6:7-10)

Dom Helder Camara of Brazil has been much maligned because of his connection with Liberation Theology - a theology which attempts to involve Christians in left-wing (as opposed to right-wing) political causes. But Camara was right at least on one point when he wrote:

"I used to think, when I was a child, that Christ might have been exaggerating when He warned about the dangers of wealth. Today I know better. I know how ... (impossible) it is to be rich and still keep the milk of human kindness. Money (or the desire for money) has a dangerous way of putting scales on one’s eyes, a dangerous way of freezing people’s hands, eyes, lips and hearts."18 

Jesus said,

"Lay not up for yourself treasures upon the earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: for where your treasure is, there will your heart be also ... No man can serve two masters (or two kingdoms): for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve (both) God and mammon (i.e., you cannot serve heaven and this world at the same time)." [Mat. 6:19-24]

Speaking of those who have given up on viewing themselves as citizens of heaven, and have reverted back to seeing themselves as citizens of this world, Paul said,

"For I have told you often before, and I say it again now with tears in my eyes, there are many who walk along the Christian road who have become the enemies of the cross of Christ. Their future is ... loss ... (for) all they think about is this life here on earth." [Phil. 3:18-19 (Amp.)]

This is the condition of the church's leadership today; these are the people of whom the Lord said,

"... they bend their tongues like their bow for lies: BUT THEY ARE NOT VALIANT FOR THE TRUTH upon the earth; for they proceed from evil to evil, and they know not me, saith the LORD.

"Take ye heed every one of his neighbour, and trust ye not in any brother: for every brother will utterly supplant, and every neighbour will walk with slanders.

"And THEY WILL DECEIVE every one his neighbour, AND WILL NOT SPEAK THE TRUTH: they have taught their tongue to speak lies, and weary themselves to commit iniquity.

"THINE HABITATION IS IN THE MIDST OF DECEIT; through deceit they refuse to know me, saith the LORD." (Jer. 9:3-6)

That's what happens to those Christians who have made money their master.

FLEE AT ALL COSTS

Is that the condition of those Christians who surround you? Of the church to which you belong? - if so, then get away from them (it) as fast as you can. Do NOT think - even for a moment - that you can help them (it). This is a condition of the heart. You cannot reason with people who have given themselves over to this condition of things. It's NOT the result of a momentary indiscretion. So deep is their corruption, and the corruption of the church to which they adhere, that the Bible offers you only one way out! It says,

"... COME OUT of her (i.e., this corrupted, compromised church) my people ... that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues." (Rev. 18:4)

If you refuse to take the Lord's advice here - if you think to stay to change the minds of the people you are connected to, and the Christian institutions you are associated with, YOU WILL BE THE PERSON THAT IS ULTIMATELY CHANGED, NOT THEM.

Soon, all of this will be over, and a great entrance into the Kingdom of God awaits us if we acquit ourselves honorably in the upcoming months and years. This life isn't forever, but what we do now will follow us into eternity. The Bible says: "Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us ..." (Heb. 12:1)
