Liberty Counsel Warns That Obama
Seeks To Become Global Dictator

By: Kyle of RWW

Leo Strauss and his right-wing disciples, among which are John Podhoretz, Rupert Murdoch, Elliott Abrams, Midge Decter, Donald Rumsfeld, Dick Cheney, Paul Wolfowitz, Douglas Feith, Richard Pearl, Daniel Pipes, Bill Kristol, Robert Kagan, David Frum, etc.

One of the biggest myths being pushed by today's Neo-Con / Christian Alliance is that Obama is the antichrist AND NO WONDER: If the Neo-Cons can convince American Christians that Obama is the Antichrist, then it is but a simple step from there to convincing Christians that dumping Obama and making war on the nations and peoples of the Middle East and Central Asia is a RELIGIOUS IMPERATIVE.

Naturally enough, it's not that anyone in the Neo-Conservative nexus believes in the concept of antichrist; but if such a concept on the part of evangelical Christians can be used as a pretext for the American oil elites to grab the BLACK GOLD of the Muslim world, that's fine with them. [Please see our article, "The Neo-Conservatives."]

And what idiots American Christians are proving themselves to be in allying themselves with the Neo-Cons. The very real fact of the matter is, according to Shadia Drury --- a well-known Canadian academician who has written extensively on Leo Strauss, the architect and creator, so to speak, of neo-conservatism --- neo-conservatives have a very twisted view of religion and its utility insofar as the state is concerned: That while religion is absolutely essential in order to impose moral law on the masses (meaning "dummies" like you and me), who otherwise would be out of control, it is a FARCE in and of itself - a "PIOUS FRAUD." Religion, Strauss maintained, was for the masses alone; the rulers need not be bound by it.

As a result, neo-conservatives are, as Ronald Bailey, science correspondent for Reason Magazine points out,

" pro-religion even though they themselves are not believers."

And just how deeply the myth of Obama as the antichrist has seeped into the psyche of the American Christian community is easily demonstrated in the fact that it has now taken hold of Liberty University. Take, for example, what Mathew D Staver, a Professor of Law at Liberty University School of Law and Director of the Liberty Center for Law and Policy, and Matt Barber, LC's Director of Cultural Affairs, have to say about Obama as antichrist, their careful, nuanced statements notwithstanding.

Liberty University is the largest Christian college for evangelical Christians in the world. It has an enrollment of over 60,000 students and offers more than 60 different academic programs. Those who have regularly spoken at the school include former presidential candidate John McCain, President Ronald Reagan, President George H. W. Bush, Rev. Billy Graham, Lt. Col. Oliver North, Steve Forbes, Leonard Davidson, former US Senator Jesse Helms, Sam Donaldson, John R. Rice, Elisabeth Elliot (wife of the late missionary Jim Elliot), Skip Erickson, Freddie Gage, Adrian Rogers (former head of the Southern Baptist Convention), creationist Ken Ham, governor Tim Kaine, Sean Hannity, Bobby Bowden, Carrie Prejean and 2008 Presidential candidates Mike Huckabee and Ron Paul.

Ever since Barack Obama started running for the White House, we've seen occasional pieces wondering if he was the Antichrist. In December 2008, Mat Staver - Dean of Liberty University's Law School - said that it was entirely understandable that people were worried that he was:

"No wonder, then, that Obama triggers such fear in the hearts of America's millennialist Christians."

Staver says that while people who believe Obama is the Antichrist are perhaps jumping to conclusions, they're not nuts:

"They are expressing a concern and a fear that is widely shared."

I wonder if Staver's views have changed since then because it sure sounds like he's convinced that Obama is out to make himself some sort of global dictator because today he and Matt Barber, LC's Director of Cultural Affairs, dedicated their radio program to explaining how Obama, from the very beginning, has been focused on systemically weakening America so that he could ultimately position himself to take over the entire world:

LEFT: Mat Staver, dean of Liberty University's law school; RIGHT: Matt Barber, LC's Director of Cultural Affairs.

"When President Barack Obama was running for president, when he became president, I've long since stated that his end game is not being President of the United States of America; that he has a broader worldwide agenda. And that's why he's to go to places around the world and down (i.e., "diss") the United States of America, because he thinks that's going to gain him popularity in some of the other foreign areas. And that's really where I think his eyes are focused, not on [being] President of the United States."

"Now here's the scary thing, I believe that that is true, but in order to have a post-American world, you have to have a post-America. And that's why his policies are pushing us into a post-American world. He is destroying American exceptionalism and is trying to do away with our free market system here in the United States. He's trying to create the climate where we have a post-American world."

"Well, because America is always going to be, or at least it has been up until now, world player. And for him to be on the world scene, he's going to have to bring America down to the level of some of the European and some other countries with regards to commonality. And America always had the exceptionalism and you can't really have worldwide influence if you've got the America exceptional nation because you're going to have to have them all basically on the same level.

"So for him to go into this national, or global, leadership - which he wants to do - it's no wonder why he wants to make America's economy like the European economy; it's no wonder why he wants to downplay Christianity so he can up-play Islam.

"This man does not respect America. He never has."
