A REVOLT OF “AVERAGE AMERICANS”
AGAINST THE MACHINATIONS
OF WALL STREET

Yesterday’s vote on the elite’s colossal $700 billion bailout package represented a massive revolt against the “Mavens of Wall Street” by representatives of “average Americans” in the Halls of Congress.

The revolt was led by “far-right” elements of the Republican Party, and “far-left” groups in the Democratic Party – and by that we mean not necessarily the “effete liberals” most conservatives associate with the Democrats (i.e., the party’s cultural liberals), but the party’s economic liberals, i.e., union workers and those who have been “left behind” in today’s economy; and in the case of the Republicans, anti-immigration Republicans, “America First” Republicans, and so forth. In both cases, these groups represent those in each respective party that are seen as “closest to the people.”

More importantly, the vote represented a vote against the presumptive leadership in each party – McCain for the Republicans, and Obama for the Democrats. The fact is, both McCain and Obama were “on board” insofar as the bailout was concerned, though both disingenuously (but quite shrewdly) claimed that there were on board only “reluctantly.”

The revolt of the Republican “back-benchers” against McCain’s leadership, however, is not as surprising as the revolt of the “far-left” against Obama’s leadership. McCain has been constantly challenged by the “far-right” of his party; the biggest example was the “far-right’s” revolt against McCain on immigration, which the Republican leadership – at the insistence of the elites (which hunger for the cheap labor that immigrants provide) - tried to ram down the throats of the party’s “far-right” constituency, and failed miserably in doing so. The revolt of the Democratic Party’s “back-benchers,” however, is another matter – and one that is extremely worrisome for the elites; and while there has been much talk about the failure of the Republican leadership to deliver on the votes of their “back-benchers,” it’s not that that worries the elites so much as it is the concomitant failure of the Democratic leadership to deliver more votes from their “back-benchers” – something that the elites are counting on regarding what the see as an inevitable Obama win in November.

One must understand something here, OBAMA IS THE ELITE’S CHOICE INSOFAR AS THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY IS CONCERNED.  They believe that Obama is “manageable.” It isn’t as if they wouldn’t prefer the Republicans to win in November, but – given the fact that they are able under most circumstances to control the Democrats (as they did when Clinton was president – remember NAFTA) as well as the Republicans, they think that they can live with an Obama presidency.  Lance Selfa writes:

“Obama’s rhetoric in the Democratic primaries—crafted with the more liberal Democratic primary voter in mind—evoked images of mass movements for social change throughout U.S. history. He sought, very skillfully and consciously, to cloak himself in the legitimacy of struggles for the right to vote, the eight-hour day, and civil rights for the oppressed. But when one looked beyond his inspirational rhetoric, it was often hard to pin down exactly where he stood on crucial questions … Since Obama began to assume the position as ‘president-in-waiting’, he has made much clearer where he stands on a number of important issues. And in doing so, he is showing that while marketing himself as a candidate of change, he is assuring the movers and shakers of American politics that he is committed to a status quo hardly different from what we have known at least since the end of the Cold War.”

And it isn’t just Selfa who sees Obama as just another “tool” of Wall Street, Barry Grey of WSR writes:

“Obama, for his part, has made the principal task of his campaign assuring Wall Street of his … overall reliability as a defender of the interests of the financial elite.”

The elites, of course, are going to try again to push their bailout through Congress – perhaps as early as this Thursday; and they may win. Nonetheless, the elites are very worried about what happened yesterday.

What concerns the elites now – given the fact that so many “back benchers” in the Democratic Party voted against Obama’s stated position regarding the bailout – is the ability of Obama to control his “back-benchers.” If he is unable to do so now – at the very beginning of the economic crisis facing the nation, an economic crisis that has a long way yet to go – what will happen when the crisis really gets out of hand. Given Obama’s past connections to Bill Ayers, the Rev. Wilber Wright, the “Chicago Machine” and so forth, they could have another FDR (Roosevelt) on their hands, someone who started off as a “patrician,” but who became a “populist” once he got in office where, according to the elites, he quickly succumbed to the “socialist” and “communist” forces in his party that were hell bent on emasculating the “richy-riches” of Wall Street.

THE LAST TIME THAT OCCURRED, THE ELITES MOUNTED TWO ASSASSINATION ATTEMPTS AGAINST THE PRESIDENT (i.e., FDR), ALONG WITH A FAILED COUP D’ ETAT. [Please see our article, “A Revolt against Elite Power Is in the Air, and the Elites Are Breathing Fire against it.”]

Thankfully, these attempts failed; but that was back in the 1930s – a long time ago. Things have very much changed since then regarding the ability of the elites to mount such a takeover. One has only to remember what happened to JFK insofar as the killing of a president (regicide) is concerned, and what happened to Martin Luther King regarding the elite’s ability to stop a “Poor People’s Revolt.” [Please see our articles, “MK-Ultra: The Search for the Manchurian Candidate” and “Now Is the Time to Do Something: It May Be too Late Tomorrow.”]
