Wall Street attacks the Occupy
Movement with the support
of the Religious Right

Dissident Journalism opines:

"Perhaps the most basic right in a democracy is, to quote the Constitution, 'the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances'. If we cannot do this we don't live in a real democracy."

The report continues:

"Prior to Occupy Wall Street I understood that our government has been completely hijacked by corporate interests, rendering the political process pure theatre ... But my experience at Occupy Wall Street has served as a serious reality check as to how 'unfree' we really are. The disproportionate police presence surrounding the Occupy Movement exists for one reason — to intimidate us. [Please see our article, "What Happened at UC Davis Was No Aberration."]

"Since day one, the state has sent an enormous supply of cops to monitor us, threaten us, arrest us, and beat us up ... And for what? For exercising our most basic right. "Meanwhile, the criminals on Wall Street who have trashed the global economy, stolen trillions from the taxpayers in bailouts and continue to engage in the same speculative practices that got us into this mess have faced no retribution. The CEOs at Goldman Sachs, Bank of America and AIG have not been arrested. They continue to reap millions in bonuses and deferred stock options. And they use the state to send the cops out to crush resistance. JP Morgan Chase recently donated an unprecedented $4.6 million to the NYPD. Clearly, they approve of the brutality.

"As someone who grew up in New York, I have been to Wall Street many times. In my experience there has never been a police presence even remotely comparable to what we've seen at Occupy Wall Street, even on days when there were high terror alerts. At times, at least in the early days of the protest, it felt like there were more police officers than demonstrators. The message is clear—don't come out, stay home, be afraid ...

"The measures taken by our government against Occupy Wall Street resemble what occurs in dictatorships and third world countries. The police refuse to let protestors sleeping overnight at Liberty Plaza to set up tents to block the rain, which has been torrential at times. I have spoken to numerous people who say they have either gotten sick or will eventually catch a fever because of such conditions. They consider this treatment cruel and unusual punishment ...

"The crackdown on Occupy Wall Street is part of a much broader trend. The police state has been spying on American dissidents without any evidence of wrongdoing and brutally breaking up protests it does not like. The state cut off cell phone service in one recent case. At the G20 Summit protest in Pittsburgh last year, the government militarized the area, bringing in contractors from Fallujah and setting up check points.

NOTE: We urge you to see our recent article, "Weep for the People of Iraq." There can be no doubt that the death squad activity of John Dimitri Negroponte is now - at long last - being introduced into the American homeland.

"America has militarized its police force, sending SWAT teams to conduct raids on over 40,000 American homes a year (that's right). And now, the government is doing the unthinkable—murdering U.S. citizens without evidence of criminal conduct or any semblance of due process. [Please see our article, "Chilean prosecutor charges ex-US officer."]

George Carlin

"Shortly before he died, George Carlin did a bit on how we do not have and have never really had rights. I quote in full:

'Now, if you think you do have rights, I have one last assignment for ya. Next time you're at the computer get on the Internet, go to Wikipedia. When you get to Wikipedia, in the search field for Wikipedia, I want you to type in, 'Japanese-Americans 1942,' and you'll find out all about your precious fucking rights...

'In 1942 there were 110,000 Japanese-American citizens, in good standing, law abiding people, who were thrown into internment camps simply because their parents were born in the wrong country. That's all they did wrong. They had no right to a lawyer, no right to a fair trial, no right to a jury of their peers, no right to due process of any kind. The only right they had was ... right this way! Into the internment camps.

'Just when these American citizens needed their rights the most, their government took them away. And rights aren't rights if someone can take 'em away. They're privileges. That's all we've ever had in this country is a bill of TEMPORARY privileges; and if you read the news, even badly, you know that every year the list gets shorter, and shorter, and shorter. Yah, sooner or later the people in this country are going to realize the government doesn't give a fuck about them. The government doesn't care about you, or your children, or your rights, or your welfare or your safety. It simply doesn't give a fuck about you. It's interested in its own power. That's the only thing; keeping it, and expanding wherever possible."

Naturally enough, most Christians will want to trash what Carlin has to say because of his use of profanity, the "F-word" and the fact that he was a rabid atheist. But in doing so, they are making a huge mistake. Jesus said:

"The children of this world are in their generation wiser than the children of light." (Luke 16:8)

In attacking its opponents, the government -

  • first SMEARS its enemies,

  • then it moves to destroy them through the police power of the state.

A SMEAR campaign is an intentional, premeditated effort to undermine an individual's or group's reputation, credibility, and character. SMEAR tactics differ from normal discourse or debate in that they do not bear upon the issues or arguments in question. A SMEAR is a simple attempt to malign a group or an individual and to attempt to undermine their credibility. SMEARS often consist of ad hominem attacks in the form of unverifiable rumors and are often distortions, half-truths, or even outright lies; SMEAR campaigns are often propagated by gossip spreading. Even when the facts behind a SMEAR are shown to lack proper foundation, the tactic is often effective because the target's reputation is tarnished before the truth is known.

The central SMEAR in the attack launched by the financial elites against those in the Occupy Movement is that the movement is being manipulated by ATHEISTIC communists - and there is a very real reason that the elites are using this SMEAR: They are doing it in order to enlist the support of the "Christian Right."

This LIE is a tactic that is part and parcel of an old bag of tricks the elites have used to great affect over the years against those who oppose them: time and time again it has given the elites license to use the police powers of the state to crush their opponents.

THE RICH: Labeling their enemies as "communists"

Edward Bernays and his book, Propa-ganda, a must read in Joseph Goebbles' Propaganda Ministry in the Third Reich.

The fact is, in their vicious fight to preserve their ill-gotten gain, the mavens of Wall Street have never flinched from using LIES to SMEAR their enemies. In doing so, they are merely following the advise given them by Edward Bernays who wrote that it was ABSOLUTELY IMPERATIVE THAT THE MASSES BE MANIPULATED. Indeed, Edward Bernays, in his 1928 book, Propaganda, wrote:

"The conscious and intelligent MANIPULATION of the ... habits and opinions of the masses ... [That means YOU!] is necessary to control the people."

Bernays saw this kind of fallacious "truth-telling" as necessary insofar as modern-day democracies were concerned - which he and his elite masters thought had taken the concept of democracy or "people power" too far.

Walter Lippmann

The fact is, by Bernays' time (the early 1900s) it was understood by the elites - both in Britain and the United States, supposedly the two most democratic nations in the world - that the "common people" had won too much freedom, and that a way had to be found to "manage" their freedom - i.e., to "intelligently MANIPULATE" them - if the capitalist system was to survive.

After all, the unseemly and MASSIVE accumulation of wealth that the Wall Street Moguls of that era had hoarded to themselves - all at the expense of the poor - was not something very much calculated to make the poor happy; and if one vote per person is all that it would take to change things, what chance did the rich have in holding on to their ill-gotten gain? Not much - there are certainly a lot more of the poor than there are of the rich.

No! - democracy for the poor had to be "managed," which meant, naturally enough, that it had to be limited insofar as the poor were concerned. Bernays (and his disciple, Walter Lippmann - the dean of modern-day American journalism) called this management of the poor "BUILDING DEMOCRACY." Both Bernays and Lippmann believed that average people - again, meaning YOU and others like you - were too dumb to think for themselves, and that - as a result - unfettered democracy in their hands was an extremely dangerous thing.

Bernays believed that people were clods, and that they could be easily manipulated - and he proved it by planning and managing a campaign for a group of cigarette companies aimed at trying to get women to smoke. He had attractive, chic-looking female models walk up and down Fifth Avenue in New York City smoking cigarettes and showing how it supposedly made them beautiful and slim.

The campaign was a smashing success, and soon thereafter the United Fruit Company hired him to help portray its economic rape of Central America as "an experiment in democracy." [For a history of the United Fruit Company's (now Dole) avaricious involvement in Central America, please see our article, "The American Empire: The Corporate / Pentagon / CIA / Missionary Archipelago."]

According to Beck, socialism is the enemy of prosperity.

Former Fox News talk-show host Glenn Beck has led the way in labeling the Occupy Movement as "communist-inspired." He reported on his syndicated radio-talk show that the Occupy Wall Street protests "are part and parcel of a communist plan to collapse the U.S. economy." He went on to say:

"This is a Marxist revolution that is global in its nature."

Appearing on Fox News' "The O'Reilly Factor," Beck said that although not everyone protesting the U.S.'s high unemployment rate, stagnant wages, and other social problems stemming from the long, painful 2007-2009 recession is a communist, segments of the far left are represented in the coalition and that the coalition's leaders are "Marxists. They are communists" [and by implication, atheists].

Later - on his radio show - Beck alleged that the Occupy Wall Street protesters would "kill" the wealthy; that they would drag them and all those who oppose them into the streets and murder them. He continued by saying:

"Do you know why socialism never works? Because they kill all the people who know how to make things. They kill all the industrialists."

Coming back to the protests in New York, Beck said,

"... [these kinds of demonstrations] end in violence with Marxists every single time; the demonstrations are wrapped in hate."

He then went on to assert that President Obama was -

"... a die-hard Marxist."

GLENN BECK: "Obama is a die-hard Marxist."

[Please see our article, "Liberty Counsel Warns That Obama Seeks To Become Global Dictator."]

Other talk-radio "biggies" involved in this SMEAR campaign are Rush Limbaugh, Mark Levin, Sean Hannity, Laura Ingraham, Michael Savage, Michael Medved, Shad Olson, Mike Gallagher, Bill Cunningham and countless others across the country, all of whom equate today's "secular-humanism" (Christianity's bugaboo) with communism.

Glenn ended by saying:

"Zuccotti Park smells now like an open sewer with people urinating and defecating in public. Let's just be honest. They're animals."

NOTE: The truth of the matter is, before the elites closed down the Occupy Movement in Zuccotti Park, the protesters had been doing their utmost to keep the park clean; they had even brought in portable toilets and had work crews busy cleaning the park up on a continual basis.

And it's not just Beck and his talk-radio cohorts who have been charging the protesters at Zuccotti Park with scandalous Rupert Murdoch's New York Post jumped into the fray, charging - erroneously - that the Occupy Wall Street protests have devolved into a shameless display of moral depravity, getting high every day and having sex "in a tarp," and even "out in plain view."

Rupert Murdoch

NOTE: No reputable journalist has (had) ever seen or reported on such behavior; only Murdoch's rag sheet, the New York Post; and in this connection one would do well to remember that the same people who drove London's News of the World out of business because of their faulty and dishonest reporting are the same people who run the New York Post.

Murdoch's rag-sheet, The Star. Is this where Christians get their information on the Occupy Movement? Apparently so.

The Post continued:

"Lured by cheap drugs and free food, creepy thugs have infiltrated the crowd of protesters camped out in Zuccotti Park for Occupy Wall Street."

The report went on to allege that drugs were an "easy score" and that pot could be had for $15, and heroin for $10.

NOTE: Naturally enough, the NYC police - lusting after an excuse to shut the protesters down - have done their best to find evidence to this effect, all to no avail.

Murdoch's media empire - which consists of the Star (a supermarket tabloid), the New York Post, the now defunct News of the World, Twentieth Century Fox, Metromedia, Fox Broadcasting Company, etc. - is dragging out the old "Communist Conspiracy" theories the ultra-rich used to defame their opponents with during most of the Twentieth Century, and they are unleashing them now on the Occupy Wall Street protesters and all those others who in any way are speaking out against the greed of Wall Street.

One in the same thing according to today's Christians

Mills writes:

"Whenever the standards of the moneyed elite prevail, the man with money, no matter how he got it, will eventually be respected. [In America] it is not only that men want money; it is that their very standards are pecuniary. In a society [i.e., the American society] in which the money-maker has ... no serious rival for repute and honor, the word 'practical' comes to mean 'useful for private gain' and 'common sense', 'the sense to get ahead financially'."

The ease with which America's business elites are able to draw evangelical Christians into accepting the lies and the SMEAR campaigns that are based on these lies is breath-taking; it is based on the predilection of American Christians to honor men and women of wealth while denigrating the poor - a penchant that ascribes poverty to "laziness" and "individual failure." Such a tendency gives evidence to the fact that evangelicals have bought into the selfish, self-serving, egotistical arguments of their elite "business allies," people about whom the late Professor C. Wright Mills of Columbia University writes,

"The pursuit of the moneyed-life is ... [the elite's] commanding value, in relation to which the influence of other values has declined, so ... [that they have] easily become MORALLY ruthless in its pursuit ..."

"[They have] narrowed the meaning of 'success' to big money and in these terms condemn financial failure as the chief sin, raising money to the plane of absolute value."

Again, what Mills is saying here gives credence to what Jesus said about the wisdom of some secularists:

"The children of this world are in their generation wiser than the children of light." (Luke 16:8).

Obviously, the tendency of America's Christians to honor men and women of wealth while denigrating the poor didn't come from the Bible. Plainly, evangelicals have somewhere along the line forgotten what Christ said about the poor vis a vis the rich:

"And He [Christ] lifted up His eyes on His disciples, and said, Blessed be ye poor: for yours is the kingdom of God ..." (Luke 6:20)

And again He said,

"Blessed are ye that hunger: for ye shall be filled ..." (Luke 6:21)

But unto the rich He said,

"Woe unto you that are rich! (Luke 6:24)

And He went on to say that it was easier for a camel to get through the eye of a [sewing] needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God (Mark 10:25).

Sadly, the alliance between the church and America's business community is a long and sordid one; one that runs from the Red Scare (1919-1921) through the Isolationist and "America First" movements of the 1930s, the McCarthy era of the late '40s and early '50s straight to the "Religious Right" of today.

Speaking concerning this alliance, Professor Daniel Bell, writing for the Columbia University Forum (Fall, 1962), said -

"... in no other ... [free enterprise system] but the American - not in England, not in Germany [since the end of the war], not in France - has the drive [to embrace the rich] been so compulsive ... among Christians."

And it isn't as if this feeling was not requited by America's business community; indeed, Bell could not help but note the business community's fascination with the Religious Right as an ally, and the elite's clever disposition to enlist members of the Christian community as "foot soldiers" and "grunts" in their war against trade-unionism and socialism - an effort which Bell believed essentially involved two strategies:

  1. Waving the "bloody shirt" of "atheistic socialism."

  2. Contributing large sums of money to their churches and ministries.

Bell wrote (1962),

"... a significant number of America's big corporations have been contributing financially to ... [Religious] Right causes. The National Education Program at Harding College [a small, fundamentalist Christian school] in Arkansas, which prepares films on communism and materials on free enterprise, has been used extensively by General Electric, U.S. Steel, Olin Mathieson Chemical, Monsanto Chemical, Swift & Co., Boeing Aviation, Richfield Oil Co. and others; they have also sponsored many anti-communism seminars throughout the country."

Dr. George S. Benson, President of Harding College; Harding college is affiliated with Pepperdine University, the same university that Kenneth Starr, Bill Clinton's nemesis during the 1990s, is now affiliated. [Please see our article, "The Olson Salon: A Case Study of the Machinations of the Religious Right."]

Typical of the psychology driving the rational of most of these companies was the thinking of the Allen Bradley Co. of Milwaukee, which made machine tools and electrical equipment. The Allen Bradley Co. was an advertiser in the John Birch Society Magazine; it also reprinted the testimony before the House Un-American Activities Committee of Fred Schwartz, a famous Christian "anti-communist crusader" of that era - a reprint which Schwartz claimed had -

"... wider distribution than any other government document in the history of the United States, with the possible exception of the Bill of Rights, the Declaration of Independence, and the Constitution."

General Electric, U.S. Steel, Olin Mathieson Chemical, Monsanto Chemical, Swift & Co., Boeing Aviation, Richfield Oil Co., Alan Bradley Co., etc. are among those American businesses that have knowingly and very blatantly supported the alliance between the American church and the American business community.

There were, of course, very real reasons inherent in the "world-views" of both the business community and the Christian community which impelled them to make common cause against the forces of socialism or, as both would phrase it today, secular-humanism: The churches, because they see in communism and secular-humanism an atheistic and/or "New Age" philosophy that they perceive to be inimical to their own "world-view;" and the business community, because it is terrified of socialism and the spread of trade-unionism, and it suspects that secular-humanism is a "front" for both.

And there's something more; there is a certain symmetry - a kind of proportion or equilibrium - between the two communities in which the strength of the one compliments the weakness of the other, and visa versa: specifically, the churches provide the "foot soldiers" and voters the business community sorely lacks, and big business provides the money that the churches often find in short supply.

Karl Marx once said:

"I deeply admire and respect Jesus; but I hate most of those who claim to be His followers. [He was speaking of the rich aristocracies and self-satisfied bourgeoisie that used Christianity to control the poor."]

Christians begging for crumbs at the feet of the ultra-rich

But from the beginning, the key to the whole tone of the relationship is captured in the phrase, "foot soldiers" vis a vis the Christian community's relationship with business - a fact attested to by almost everyone who has studied the inside workings of this relationship.

The "main" player has always been the business community; the "go-fer" - the subordinate in the relationship - has been the Religious Right; and this is as true today as it was when the alliance first surfaced shortly after the Russian Revolution, specifically in the famous "Red Scare" of 1919.

The dynamic between the two communities - that is to say, the "go-fer" relationship of the Christian community vis a vis the business community - was apparent right from the start. Why? - because it was their world, more than even the world of Christianity, that was being threatened by Lenin and his followers; it was their property, their money, their lands, etc. which - in the first instance - was at risk.

Obviously, then, the main "mover" behind the Red Scare of 1919-1920 was clearly big business; the tool they used to bludgeon organized labor with was Christianity.

"We have ... the pulpit ... through which to sell our message, We'll beat them to death with the cross of Christ."

Indeed, one particularly powerful business spokesman asserted confidently:

"We have ... the pulpit ... through which to sell our message; we'll beat them to death with the cross of Christ."

Historian Richard Hofstadter writes,

"Business leaders hoped to make use of the Christian community's fear of 'atheistic' communism as a weapon against organized labor."

Employer groups everywhere were urged to use the power of the pulpit against organized labor.

But to say that these businessmen were Christians in the true sense of that word is not only untrue, it's farcical. Christianity was merely a tool that big business was using in their battle to preserve their wealth. Clearly, their interest was in their possessions, not the Gospel of Jesus Christ - and if Christians had to be used as "cannon fodder" to protect these possessions, so be it.

Rush Limbaugh

But the lies that the Religious Right have "bought into" are lies that are easily pierced. For example, take the lies being peddled today against Occupy Wall Street by Rush Limbaugh:

"Folks, you might be... I don't know if you'll be surprised or not. You might be amazed to hear that there are groups paying protestors at the Occupy Wall Street protests. Essentially what you have are groups paying demonstrators to protest capitalism. In order to get these numbers of people showing up to protest capitalism, they're having to pay them -- and one of the groups paying the demonstrators is something called the 'Working Families Party'. Now, the Working Families Party is the same bunch of people that organized the terrorizing of the AIG executives in their front yards during the big bonus controversy of 2009. That was in March of 2009. Now, the Working Families Party is a spin-off of ACORN [NOT TRUE!], and they are advertising on Craigslist and on their own website for protestors, and offering up to $350 to $650 a week!"

According to the New York Times, the Working Families Party was formed in 1998 by a coalition of labor unions and community groups as a way of prodding Democratic candidates to pay more attention to the needs of the poor. The plan was not to cut ties with the Democratic Party but to be a force to prevent the Democrats from continuing what the group's leaders described as a drift to a more conservative agenda.

Limbaugh continued:

"Now, $350 a week is a little over $16,000 a year to come down and protest (if it's paid for that long, but that's the rate) and $650 a week would be close to $27,000 a year. That's what they're offering these people to come down and protest. Now, I don't think there's any health care, retirement, or pension involved here, but who knows? The unions are involved, so who knows what's being included in all of this. This is just the report. This is what's being advertised. I'm not even sure, in truth, they're paying minimum wage. But you can probably earn a little extra money by setting fire to a cop car, throwing a rock through a rich person's house. It's $350 a week, $650 a week. "Sure, show up! Come on down! Protest capitalism." They have to be paid to do it."

According to Tom Knighton, the Executive Vice President of the Forum Corporation, the charge that protesters were being paid originated in a video of a man who alleged he was being paid $22 per hour plus overtime to protest.

Tom Knighton

Knighton writes:

"Now, I'm not a fan of much of what the Occupy Wall Street crowd is espousing as solutions to our nations problems, but I've got to point out that I seriously doubt that this video is real. You see, I've seen a lot of footage from various Occupy events, and when someone is being interviewed, there's usually a lot of background noise from a lot of people talking. The same is true of footage at Tea Party events through out the country.

"However, in this video, the background noise is clearly Chicago traffic. There's almost no one milling around beside or behind this guy, despite him sitting on a bus bench with his hands in his pocket and his protest sign clearly displayed. Oh sure, it's entirely possible that he's on his way to the protest, but listen to the video. He's not talking about why he's going there, but talks about why he's 'here'. It may seem like a small thing, but I'm not so sure."

Their throat is an open sepulchre

And it's not just this and similar videos that have been popping up looking very much like "staged affairs," but it's also advertisements that have been appearing on Craig's List saying that person and / or persons unknown will pay for protesters to go down to Wall Street to protest. All efforts to track the "advertisers" down have proven futile.

Like Bernays' effort to coax women to smoke (see above), it's all so much "stagecraft;" these so-called "protesters" are about as real as the women Bernays paid to parade up and down Fifth Avenue looking chic and smoking cigarettes.

It seems that Christians have no idea what dupes they have become to the ultra-rich - "deceivers and flatterers" of whom the Bible says,

"Their throat is an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips ..." (Rom. 3:13)

The poison of asps
is under their lips.

Now, stop and think about what the Bible is saying here concerning people who use the kind of deceit that the business elites have unleashed against their enemies:

  • The poison of asps is under their lips.

  • They do wickedly.

  • They corrupt by flatteries.

Isn't that what the U.S. elites are up to today? OR how else do you understand what Edward Bernays meant when he said that "average people" in the United States must be "consciously and intelligently MANIPULATED?"

Now it isn't as if these SMEARS were being plastered out in the public by the American media with only the thought of defaming their opponents. This campaign of deliberate SMEARS was meant to justify the eventual use of the police power of the state against the elites' opponents. And it seems as if this tactic has worked - at least for now.

Akim Reinhardt reports:

"We may now be gazing upon the fading days of the Occupy movement as an actual episode in which numerous, large scale occupations are taking place and having immediate impact ..."

Comparing the seeming fate of the "Occupy Movement" to the fate of the so-called "Bonus Army" in the early 1930s, Reinhardt writes:

"The Bonus Marchers were a collection of homeless and unemployed World War I veterans who sought government action during the darkest depths of the Great Depression. During the roaring `20s the government had promised to award them a one time bonus of $1,000 in gratitude for their wartime service. However, unemployed vets, many of them homeless, sought early payment of the bonus. They crossed the country in caravans, arriving in the nation's capital and encamped there. But despite their numbers, organization, and commitment, members of the Bonus Army were unable to achieve their goals. Why? - Because the press and political opponents SMEARED the peaceful protestors as criminals and revolutionaries."

The encampment of the Bonus Army in Washington in 1932

Reinhard explains that after the SMEAR campaign against the homeless veterans of the Bonus Army had run its course, the police and the military moved in, arrested the leaders and burned down their encampments.

Police raiding the camps of
the poor in 1932

Police raiding the camps of
the poor in 2011

1932 : 2011

In May of 1932 at the height of the "Great Depression" - some 15,000 veterans, many unemployed and destitute, descended on Washington, D.C. during the Hoover Administration to demand immediate payment of the bonus that had been promised them for their service in World War I. They proclaimed themselves the "Bonus Expeditionary Force," but the public dubbed them the "Bonus Army." Raising ramshackle camps at various places around the city, they waited. The veterans made their largest camp at Anacostia Flats across the river from the Capitol. Approximately 15,000 veterans, women and children lived in the shelters built from materials dragged out of a junk pile nearby - old lumber, packing boxes and scrap tin covered with roofs of thatched straw. Discipline in the camp was good, despite the fears of many city residents who spread unfounded "Red Scare" rumors. Streets were laid out, latrines dug, and formations held daily. Newcomers were required to register and prove they were bonafide veterans who had been honorably discharged. NOTHING SO FRIGHTENS THE ELITES THAN THE POOR TAKING TO THE STREETS AND ENCAMPING AGAINST THEM.

The attack on the "Bonus Army" was the BRUTAL and UNFEELING answer of the American elites to the poor in 1932, and it is the same answer the elites have given to the encampments of the poor in 2011 - AND THE POOR IN 1932 WERE PATRIOTIC ARMY VETERANS WHO HAD ACTUALLY BEEN PROMISED HELP - help that the elites reneged on.

It is a sad commentary on the state of the American media that there is more truth to be gleaned from a Russian publication such as Russia Today than there is from ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX, CNN, etc. [Please see our articles, "The Corporate State and the Mass Media," "The Mainline Media: One Enormous Propaganda Machine."]

And so it is today! - and the whole world recognizes what the American elites are doing to America's poor. Even the Russians; for example, the Russian publication, Russia Today, opines:

"The US police continue to play cat and mouse with the Occupy movement, having torn down the last remaining Occupy Wall Street camps ...

"These last three months have seen a lot of police activity, with tactics changing several times against an entirely non-violent protest movement ... Reports of mass arrests being made while peaceful protesters stand by chanting 'Shame on you!' have become routine."

Customers camped-out in front of store waiting to buy "Air Jordans."

It is interesting to note that tents and sleeping bags are allowed when people are camping out in front of stores to buy "Air Jordan" tennis shoes selling for $180.00 a pair to yuppies willing to pay that outlandish price to look fashionable; but they are not willing to allow the poor to exercise their First Amendment rights to assemble to protest the actions of the government.

Russia Today continues:

Under-cover cops arrest demonstrators

Interestingly, demonstrators in Moscow who are protesting the rule of Vladimir Putin seem to enjoy more freedom to protest than anti-government groups in America.

"The latest crackdown on protesters on America's West coast has seen 55 people arrested over the weekend in San-Francisco as they rallied in front of the Federal Reserve building.

"In this instance, protesters had built no structures to protect themselves, and campers were easily pulled out of their tents and sleeping bags by a police contingent outnumbering them 2:1.

"The local authorities have adopted a law prohibiting sitting or lying down on public sidewalks at certain hours of the day [i.e., during the night]. The protesters attempted to circumvent the new municipal legislation by invoking the First Amendment which guarantees freedom of speech and should have outweighed the local laws, allowing the protesters to continue to exercise their rights.

"But as enthusiastic police activity continued unchecked, it became clear that the First Amendment does not outweigh anything in America these days.

"The latest police raid in San Francisco has effectively cleared out the last remaining OWS protester camp.

"The US authorities have used a variety of pretexts to shut down Occupy camps across the country. All in all, about 5,000 protesters have been arrested over the last three months ...

"Not content with pepper spray and tear gas, the police are now devising fresh methods to deal with the movement. It has been revealed that undercover police officers infiltrated Occupy LA tent camps last month to find out how the protesters plan to resist an eviction and as well as to spy on people suspected of not properly disposing of human waste.

"Also, though not connected with police raid on Occupy movement, for the first time in American history, suspects in North Dakota were arrested with the help of a Predator drone, a military reconnaissance and assault flying machine used by the US Army and the CIA in covert operations in Afghanistan and Pakistan.

The Nelson County Sheriff's department in North Dakota was tasked with finding six missing cows on a farm, but were chased off by three men. Sheriff Kelly Janke was afraid of a standoff with the three men, so he went for overkill in calling for help. Janke knew the men could be anywhere on the 3,000-acre spread in eastern North Dakota, so he called in reinforcements - a Predator B drone.

As the unmanned aircraft circled 2 miles overhead the next morning, sophisticated sensors under the nose helped pinpoint the three suspects and showed they were unarmed. Police rushed in and made the first known arrests of U.S. citizens with help from a Predator, the spy drone that has helped revolutionize modern warfare.

The use of these drones by the police are setting a dangerous precedent in allowing military drones to cross the lines into civilian use. Officials in charge of the fleet cite broad authority to work with police from budget requests to Congress that cite "interior law enforcement support" as part of their mission.

'If you thought that the use of a Predator drone to target a family in rural North Dakota was overkill, wait until you hear what happened in Jamaica. The Department of Homeland Security aided Jamaican authorities in massacring 73 civilians as part of a botched drug raid conducted with the help of a DHS surveillance aircraft - before attempting to cover up the atrocity by refusing to release the footage.

"At the DEA's insistence, Jamaican authorities reluctantly raided Tivoli Gardens, the West Kingston slum (Christopher) Coke ran as a de facto governor, two years ago. Coke didn't turn up, but Jamaican police officers killed 73 civilians, many of them allegedly in cold blood. A Department of Homeland Security surveillance plane was overhead the whole time," reports Gawker.'

These liars - swindlers who use deceit so casually - are the same people about whom the Bible says -

"... in the latter times some ... [will appear] ... speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron." (1 Timothy 4:1-2)

And aren't we not now in the "latter times?" And do not the leaders of Wall Street have their "consciences seared with a hot iron?"

But that's not all; note that I have omitted some of the wording in this portion of Scripture; these verses read in their entirety:

"Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;

"Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron." (1 Timothy 5:1-2)

In other words, while the truisms expressed in this portion of Scripture could apply to all those who use deceit and mendacity to further their cause, these verses have special reference to Christians. And if that is so, wouldn't these verses apply with particular severity to those Christians who deign to support those who use lies and deceit to further their own ends? - which, in this case, means those Christians who stand with the ultra-rich against the poor of the world, directly or indirectly, by omission or by commission.

What does that say, then, about the American church? - for can anyone seriously doubt that over the years this is precisely what evangelical Christians have been doing. [Please see our article, "The Rich Have Seized Control of the Church."]

There is a very ominous precedent for what is happening today with the American church: When Hitler started out as Chancellor in Germany in 1933, one-third of the church went over to him immediately; one-third remained undecided as to what to do, and one-third opposed him.

But by the time the war broke out in September 1939 (six years later), the entire church had gone over to Hitler. As German Pastor Hans Asmussen remarked after the war,

"Many German Christians say today that they opposed Hitler; BUT I NEVER MET ANY IN 1939!"

And so - as it was in Germany, so it is now in the United States: American Christians are "buying into" the business community's strategy - almost as if Christianity and the "free enterprise system" are one-and-the-same thing. Christians are being used as a battering ram against the downtrodden and poor of the earth. [We URGE you to see our article, "Capitalism and Christianity."]

It is because of this that Jesus said,

"My name is blasphemed among the heathen (i.e., unbelievers) because of you." (Romans 2:24)

And ignorance is no defense here: The information as to what is happening is available for Christians to see; who can really say they don't see the alliance the American church has made with the ultra-rich? [Again, please see our article, "The Rich Have Seized Control of the Church."]

The claim of ignorance won't wash! It is - as we've said before - like someone who is standing next to the train tracks who, when he hears the train coming, turns away and then claims he never saw it, though it rumbled by a mere five feet from where he was standing.

The claim of ignorance won't wash! For Christians to say that they don't know anything about this impious alliance is akin to someone who is standing next to the train tracks who, when he hears the train coming, turns away and then claims he never saw it, though it rumbled by a mere five feet from where he was standing.

God will not look kindly on those who have linked His name to the ultra-rich of this world - either directly or indirectly, either by commission or by omission. On that day, when we must all give account - the rich and poor alike - those who have linked the name of the Prince of Peace to the super elite of this world will rue the day they ever did so.

And those who stood by and said nothing, claiming ignorance of what was going on, will suffer the same fate as those who participated directly in its activities. What will all the "good works" that the church "purchased" at the expense of the poor mean then? It will all be exposed for the "flim-flam" that it really was, works which had nothing to do with the Kingdom of Heaven and everything to do with greed and self.

God bless you all!

Then make copies and take these copies out to the campuses where you live; pass them out; OR if that seems too "daring" for you right now, post them on telephone poles, the sides of buildings, on campus bulletin boards; post them in union halls, in the neighborhoods of the poor and downtrodden, near employment offices, wherever you can.

Once again, we URGE you to read (or re-read):

We need your help to spread the word concerning Antipas Ministries and the eschatological viewpoint it represents; WE NEED YOUR HELP BECAUSE WE DO NOT "LINK" WITH OTHER SO-CALLED "CHRISTIAN" WEBSITES which are, for the most part, "in the tank" insofar as their loyalty to the United States is concerned - a loyalty that has made them partners in the BLOODY trail the American military has left in its TERROR-RIDDEN rampage throughout the world, as well as making them partners in the abject poverty that American corporations have imposed on the peoples and nations the American military machine has ravaged - A BLOODY, TERROR-RIDDEN RAMPAGE THAT HAS TO A LARGE DEGREE BEEN CARRIED OUT IN THE NAME OF THE "PRINCE OF PEACE."
