USE DEATH SQUADS IN PRESERVING
THE AMERICAN EMPIRE

[Both the Republican and Democratic Party elites are involved]

INTRODUCTION

The use of DEATH SQUADS is an integral and exceedingly important means through which the American Empire imposes order on its client-states — especially those in the so-called "Third World."

NOTE: This is not to say that the use of Death Squads by those who "police" the American Empire has never before been used against citizens of America's "First World" client-states; One has only to remember the fate of Olof Palme in Sweden. [Please see our article, "Julian Assange : Hunted by the U.S. Government."]

The fact is, the use of Death Squads on a regular and even routine basis is essential in an empire of client-states where at least 80% of the population is relegated to conditions of appalling poverty.

The model imposed on America's "Third World" client-states calls for these nations to be divided into two parts - an elite class of political / economic "managers" that in most countries approximates about 20 percent of the population, and a "worker-serf" class that makes up the remaining 80 percent of the population.

The "managers" rule the country at the behest and in the interest of American corporate power. It is an Orwellian realm of "Newspeak" in which there is very little connection between perception and reality; where "freedom" means "slavery," and "democracy" means rule of the many by the few in the interest of corporate profits. For the eighty percent of the population which falls into the "worker-serf" category, it is a notably cruel and utterly despotic system held together by police forces given to fascist-like brutality, torture, terror and the SYSTEMATIC use of Death Squads.

EGYPT IS ONE OF THOSE COUNTRIES ...

Egypt is one of those countries where the US has systematically encouraged the use of Death Squads to control the population. Indeed, Egypt's secret police (the SSIS — i.e., the "State Security Investigative Service") has even received training in these methodologies at the FBI's facility in Quantico, Virginia - a fact attested to by SSIS chief Abdul Rahman who said the FBI's training sessions at Quantico were of "great benefit" to his agency. 

This is the same SSIS accused by Amnesty International of -

"... turning the country [i.e., Egypt] into a TORTURE CENTER" for so-called 'enemies of the state'."

Amnesty International went on to report what happened to one group that was taken into custody by the SSIS:

"... they were tortured 'with electric shocks and sleep deprivation to reduce them to a 'zombie state'."

THE SSIS

The SSIS has in recent years been detaining ever more thousands of prisoners in its TORTURE CENTERS throughout the country, and the threat of being confined to these torture centers has acted as a particularly effective device in tamping down opposition to Mubarak's control of the state. To keep these TORTURE CENTERS filled (as it were), the security police recruits local informants to report on the activities and political views of their neighbors; in addition, it routinely engages in surveillance of opposition politicians, journalists, political activists, foreign diplomats, and suspected subversives, and it has informants in all government departments and public-sector companies, labor unions, political parties, and the news media.

The torture employed in Egypt's TORTURE CENTERS is beyond hideous AND HAS BEEN CARRIED ON UNDER THE WATCHFUL EYE OF THE CIA AND THE FBI - and so much so that Egypt has become one of America's preferred destinations for those thousands of poor wretches who have been declared "enemies of the state" and who then have subsequently been "disappeared" into the American gulag, a series of concentration camps spread throughout the world where, according to Herbert Bix, a professor of history and sociology at Binghamton University and the author of the Pulitzer prize-winning Hirohito and the Making of Modern Japan, the following list of tortures are routinely practiced: 

LIES ABOUT THE EGYPTIAN MILITARY

AND MAKE NO MISTAKE ABOUT IT; THE EGYPTIAN ARMY HAS BEEN INVOLVED EVERY BIT AS MUCH AS THE SSIS IN RUNNING EGYPT'S TORTURE CENTERS; this is the same Egyptian army that has been lauded by the international press as taking a hands-off approach and not attempting to suppress the demonstrations that are presently rocking Egypt. The truth is, according to the Guardian, witnesses have reported "extensive beatings and other abuses at the hands of the military in what appears to be an organized campaign of intimidation" in Tahrir Square. Moreover, according to Hossam Bahgat, director of the Egyptian Initiative for Personal Rights in Cairo, thousands of ordinary people have "disappeared" into military custody in recent days. 

All this gives the lie to American propaganda spread around the world by the Americans that the "fate of Egypt should be entrusted to Egypt's military."

AMERICA DOES NOT WANT
A DEMOCRATIC EGYPT

The very real fact of the matter is, what happened today in Egypt — i.e., the removal of Mubarak and the handing over of power to the Egyptian military - is a victory for American machinations in the internal affairs of Egypt, and by no means is it a victory for democracy; the Egyptian military is in America's pocket, so to speak, and  America does not want a democratic Egypt. It has been doing everything it can "behind the scenes" to prevent such an outcome.

America's first rather pathetic attempt to do so occurred when it tried pushing Omar Suleiman, Egypt's chief of intelligence and a US puppet who enjoys the support of the CIA, to "take over" for Mubarak.

This attempt was made public by the New York Times when it reported on January 27th that the Obama administration had discussed with the Egyptian government a proposal for Mubarak to stand down and let Suleiman head a new government.

Nine days later, on February 5th, the NYT reported that the US and European governments were pushing a second plan to allow Suleiman to oversee a more gradual transition that left Mubarak in power until September. According to this plan, Suleiman was slated to head up "negotiations" with opposition groups, which would — hopefully, at least according to the CIA — give the Americans enough time to establish a new puppet regime in Cairo that could form an effective block against the Muslim Brotherhood.

THE IDEA THAT SULEIMAN IS A CHAMPION OF
DEMOCRACY IN EGYPT IS LUDICROUS

The idea, however, that Suleiman could ever be relied on to establish true democracy in Egypt is, of course, ludicrous; it would be tantamount to promoting a coup against President Obama and then letting the thugs at the CIA loose to establish a democratic régime here. It's preposterous!

Australian Mamdouh Habib had the misfortune of becoming personally acquainted with Suleiman after the CIA abducted him in Pakistan in 2001 and took him to Egypt.

Journalist Richard Neville wrote about what happened:

"Habib was interrogated by the country's Intelligence Director, General Omar Suleiman, who is ranked second in power to President Hosni Mubarak. Back in 2001, Suleiman took a personal interest in anyone suspected of links with Al Qaeda. As Habib had visited Afghanistan shortly before 9/11, he was under suspicion. Suleiman slapped Habib's face so hard, the blindfold was dislodged, revealing the torturer's identity. According to his memoir, Habib was repeatedly zapped with high-voltage electricity [attached to his penis], immersed in water up to his nostrils, beaten, his fingers were broken and he was hung from metal hooks. He was again interrogated by Omar Suleiman. To loosen Habib's tongue, Suleiman ordered a guard to murder a gruesomely shackled Turkistan prisoner in front of Habib — and he did, with a vicious karate kick."

AND THIS IS THE MAN TO WHOM THE UNITED STATES WANTED TO ENTRUST EGYPTIAN DEMOCRACY? Come on, now! — The idea is just plain silly.

It's patently absurd to believe that the Egyptian people would sacrifice hundreds of lives to overthrow a dictator and then settle for his sadistic secret police chief as a replacement. THIS CLAIM IS ABOUT AS ABSURD AS AMERICA'S ASSERTION THAT ITS WARS IN IRAQ AND AFGHANISTAN ARE BEING CONDUCTED AS A MEANS TO BRING DEMOCRACY TO THESE TWO COUNTRIES.

HIDING THE FACT THAT AMERICA'S ELITES AND EGYPT'S
ELITES ARE INTERTWINED LIKES SNAKES IN A TREE

So intertwined is the SSIS and the Egyptian army with America's military and its various intelligence services that the US government has come to believe that if the Muslim Brotherhood ever comes to power, this revelation will prove extremely DAMNING insofar as American interests in the Middle East and North Africa are concerned, AND IT'S NOT JUST REPUBLICANS AND NEO-CONSERVATIVES WHO SHOULD BE CONCERNED, BUT SOME OF THE MOST HIGH-RANKING FIGURES IN THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION — even the president himself.

It's precisely for this reason that President Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton have waffled on support for Egypt's pro-democracy revolution; they are desperate to avoid being tainted with the same brutish brush with which the Bush Administration has been tainted.


NOTE: Over the years Suleiman has been a recipient of large cash payments from the CIA for the torture of prisoners delivered to Egypt by the CIA; very obviously, this is one of those facts that the US wants "covered-up."

AND JUST HOW INVOLVED
HAVE THE DEMOCRATS BEEN?

And just how involved have Democrats been? Well, it's not that difficult to demonstrate; take, for instance, Eric Holder, now America's Attorney General; Holder, who served as Deputy Attorney General under Janet Reno from 1997 to 2001, was intimately involved in transferring American prisoners to Egypt for interrogation. For example, in 1995 (long before the events of 9-11-01), Talaat Fuad Qassim, a member of al-Gamaa Islamiya, an Islamist group linked to "Al Qaeda's" number two, Egyptian Ayman al Zawahiri, was kidnapped by CIA agents in Croatia and flown to the United States. In 1997, after Holder became Deputy Attorney General, Justice Department prosecutors realized they had no legal right to hold Qassim. Holder went to see President Clinton and told him about the problem with holding Qassim in the United States, stressing that the United States was legally bound to release Qassim. Clinton told Holder to send Qassim to someone else. Holder arranged to have Qassim flown to Egypt where he was put into a small crate, tortured, and eventually executed by Egyptian authorities. So much for Holder's efforts to hold himself out as a paragon of virtue when it comes to rendition and torture.

And that's not the end of it; in July 1998 (again, long before the events of 9-11-01), Holder signed off on the transport of two members of the Egyptian Jihad, captured by Albanian security forces in Albania, to Cairo by the CIA on a chartered extraordinary rendition aircraft. The Egyptians were tortured and executed. And that's not even the end of Holder's involvement in Death Squad activity on behalf of the American Empire: in 2004, while a partner with Covington and Burling, Holder worked out a plea agreement for his client, Chiquita Brands International, in which the firm agreed to pay a fine of $25 million for making cash payments to the Colombian right-wing death squad paramilitary force, the United Self-Defense Forces of Colombia (AUC). The AUC carried out systematic assassinations of trade union activists, peasants, politicians, and leftist guerrillas in Colombia.

The truth is, Holder has long been a coddler of torturous regimes — AND HIS INVOLVEMENT WITH SUCH REGIMES PRE-DATES 9/11.

What all this reveals is the DEPTH to which America has been involved in torture and Death Squad activity throughout the world; America's involvement transcends any idea of a liberal / conservative split on these matters, and involves the entire US governmental apparatus.

Liberals like to point to Obama's choice of Leon Panetta, supposedly a champion for civil rights, as CIA chief as an indication of the current administration's antipathy toward the policies of George Bush; but Panetta is every bit as stained as Holder is in his support of torture, rendition and the use of Death Squads.

Indeed, while Panetta was White House chief of staff under President Clinton, he signed off on the CIA's pre-9/11 rendition program with Egypt.

During his confirmation hearings for Attorney General in May 2009, Holder was asked by Senators Lamar Alexander (R-TN) and Richard Shelby (R-AL) about his role in renditions as Deputy Attorney General for Clinton. Holder admitted that extraordinary renditions occurred during the Clinton administration, but Alexander and Shelby were called off before they could delve more deeply into the matter.

CLINTON, ROVE AND HOLDER WORKING
TOGETHER TO COVER ONE ANOTHER'S ASSES

It is precisely here that one can begin to see the extent to which elites in both the Democratic and Republican Parties have worked together in promoting the use of Death Squad activity, rendition and torture; it is revealed in the way they have attempted to "cover" one another insofar as these activities go.

Take the matter of Holder's testimony at his confirmation hearings in 2009; when pressed by Alexander and Shelby to reveal how many individuals were renditioned during his time as Deputy Attorney General, Karl Rove stepped in to restrain both Republican senators (i.e., Shelby and Alexander) from delving into too many details with Holder.

In turn, Holder covered up for Rove when he was pressed concerning Rove's involvement in a rendition operation in Sweden that occurred in December, 2001. The operation revolved around the arrest and subsequent rendition of Ahmed Agiza and Muhammad al-Zery, two Egyptian asylum seekers who lived in Sweden.

Delivered to CIA agents at Bromma airport outside of Stockholm, the two Egyptians were handcuffed and chained after having suppositories containing drugs inserted into their anuses. The two Egyptians were then flown to Cairo where they were imprisoned and tortured. The rendition plane used was a Gulfstream V, owned by Premier Executive Transport Services, a CIA front company located in Dedham, Massachusetts. The tail number is N379P.

NOTE: Rove has known Holder since President Reagan appointed him as a judge on the Superior Court of the District of Columbia in 1988. All of Reagan's judicial appointments were subject to vetting by Rove and his friends in the right-wing Federalist Society.

Holder stepped in to squash the impending investigation. And there is no doubt that if Holder had not stepped in, "shit would have hit the fan" because the murder of a Swedish diplomat was involved.

The story goes like this: Rove, who has had a long relationship with Sweden, reportedly phoned then-Swedish Prime Minister Goran Persson and told him that Sweden MUST hand Agiza and al-Zehy over to the United States. Swedish Foreign Minister Anna Lindh even received a personal phone call and e-mail from Rove in which it was demanded that the two Egyptians be turned over to the Americans. Lindh was apparently opposed to the request but was overruled by Persson, who was a friend of Bill Clinton and a champion of Clinton's and British Prime Minister Tony Blair's "Third Way" globalist movement.

The attempt by Lindh to stop the rendition of Agiza and al-Zehy to Egypt so enraged American intelligence agencies that it resulted in her own assassination two years later when she was stabbed by an assailant in Stockholm on September 10, 2003; she died from her wounds on September 11.

A Serbian-Swede was found guilty of the murder, but his conviction was later overturned. There are suspicions that Lindh, an outspoken critic of America's invasion of Iraq, was assassinated by CIA agents who were worried about her knowledge of the CIA's Egyptian rendition programs. It seems that Sweden is a country whose elites are TOTALLY in bed with the American Security State. It should be noted in this connection that the same Swedish elite that is suspected of being "in bed" not only with the CIA in the Anna Lindh assassination, but also the assassination of Olof Palme, is now involved with the CIA in attempting to deport Julian Assange to Sweden where it is feared that the Swedes will hand him over to the CIA to be "disappeared" into the American Gulag. DESPERATE DEMOCRATIC EFFORTS TO AVOID BEING
LUMPED WITH THE BUSH ADMINISTRATION & DEATH SQUADS

Thus, regardless of the earlier statements from President Obama that Mubarak must leave office "now," it is clear that the waffling by the Obama administration on this matter was intended to buy time for the CIA to not only try to organize an effort to block the Muslim Brotherhood from gaining power in Egypt, but also has been a desperate ruse to gain time in order to appropriate the Egyptian government's torture and rendition files that date back to Holder's original authorization of the program.

Very obviously, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's major goal in these efforts at delay has been to limit the damage to her husband and other Democratic "big wigs" from any disclosure of documents by a new Egyptian reform government detailing not only her husband's role in the CIA's use of Egypt to detain and torture prisoners, but also to prevent the Democratic Party from being stained with same brush that has so stained the Republican Party.

IT'D DÉJÀ VU ALL OVER AGAIN

Tons of documents
One has only to recall how partially shredded and un-shredded classified CIA documents at the U.S. embassy in Tehran were obtained by students who took over the embassy and published them for all the world to see, CIA agents names and all. In fact, the long-cut shredders used to destroy the documents were a blessing for the Iranians who handed the spaghetti-like shreds to Iran's best carpet weavers to reconstruct them in practically their original form.

The Egyptian intelligence and security agencies have likely amassed tons of files on CIA activities over the past several decades and the potential for the release of documents concerning all the CIA operations that involved Egypt -- the 1980 October Surprise, Iran-contra, CIA arms smuggler Edwin Wilson's operations in Libya, repeated covert efforts against Saddam Hussein in Iraq, arms smuggling by the CIA to other African nations through the warehouse at Cairo West airport, and the CIA's nurturing of "Al Qaeda" for the mujaheddin war in Afghanistan and 9/11 -- has Langley shaking over the possibility that a reform government will reveal the dirty little secrets of the CIA and successive American presidents going back to Ronald Reagan.

THE SIMILARITIES BETWEEN THE FALL
OF THE SHAH AND THE FALL OF MUBARAK

The CIA's last-ditch support for the Mubarak regime is strikingly similar to its support for the Shah of Iran in his final days in power. As with the revolt against Mubarak in Egypt, the uprising against Shah Mohammed Reza Pahlavi in 1978 came as a shock to the CIA. On December 2, 1978, two million people filled Tehran's Shahyad (now Azadi) Square demanding that the Shah step down. Almost two million people similarly filled Cairo's Tahrir Square demanding that Mubarak step down. In the months preceding the mass demonstration in Tehran, Iranian security forces massacred thousands of people.

The CIA, to the very end, also provided assistance to the Shah's government. Some 75 CIA agents were dispatched to Iran along with more than a hundred private contractor operatives, all retired U.S. military and intelligence operatives. These agents worked closely with members of the Iranian military and SAVAK, many of whom had received training in the United States.

Similarly, a number of Egyptian officers and non-commissioned officers, as well as SSIS agents, received training in the United States. Just as President Obama dispatched Frank G. Wisner, Jr., former U.S. ambassador to Egypt and reputed CIA agent-of-influence, to talk to Mubarak, a close friend of Wisner, President Jimmy Carter, in November 1978, asked former U.S. ambassador to Iran and former CIA director Richard Helms, a personal friend of the Shah, to conduct liaison between the White House and the Shah. During his time as CIA director, Helms authorized the training of SAVAK officials in torture techniques.

As the Shah's position weakened, the Pentagon sent crowd control vehicles to Iran that were equipped with water cannons. Contingency plans were drawn up by the Pentagon and the National Security Council for the U.S. to dispatch troops to Iran to put down the popular rebellion and save the Shah and his Peacock Throne. SAVAK agents were also trained by the CIA to infiltrate anti-Shah groups and report on their plans. Other CIA provocateurs were believed to have infiltrated Iranian student groups that later took over the U.S. embassy in Tehran. There was a belief by many intelligence agents at the time that the most egregious incidents carried out by the students after they took over the embassy and held U.S. personnel hostage were committed by CIA infiltrators bent on bringing about a swift U.S. military move against Iran and prevent Ayatollah Khomeini from taking power.

In the world of the CIA, the playbook never seems to change.

NONETHELESS, DESPITE THE BEST EFFORTS OF AMERICA TO COVER-UP ITS DESPICABLE INVOLVEMENT WITH MUBARAK'S USE OF TORTURE AND DEATH SQUADS TO PROP UP HIS REGIME IN EGYPT, THESE EFFORTS WILL ULTIMATELY PROVE AS USELESS AND FUTILE AS AMERICA'S EFFORTS TO AVOID BEING LINKED TO THE SHAH'S HATED REGIME IN IRAN SOME THIRTY YEARS AGO.

MOREOVER, WHEN THESE REVELATIONS "HIT THE STREET," NOT EVEN AMERICA'S SYCOPHANTS IN THE EGYPTIAN MILITARY WILL BE ABLE TO SAVE AMERICA'S REPUTATION — AND THIS WILL BE TRUE NOT ONLY IN EGYPT, BUT THROUGOUT THE MIDDLE EAST AND NORTH AFRICA. ALL THIS GIVES EVIDENCE TO HOW CLOSE WE ARE TO THE GOG / MAGOG WAR AND THE TRIBULATION PERIOD.
